Training camp must be getting close, the natives are becoming increasingly restless. If the last 14 years are any indicator, the players are nowhere near as fired up as the fans. I have quit becoming restless about this team.

Jerry brought all those glorious people in, paid them about a hundred million dollars and they failed miserably for a few years and then he finally flushed them. Yep, sounds like the actions of a football-savvy financial genius to me.

This is a new season with most of the old crap flushed down the toilet where it belonged to begin with. There seems to be a new attitude permeating the team. It will be interesting to see how long it lasts.

I wish them well but I'm not going to be holding my breath.

If they win in the winter, great, but if not, it won't matter much to me because it is what I have come to expect from this bunch.

Outside of expecting a continuation of the late season failures of this team I really don't expect much from it anymore. Their job is to be paid a lot of money to play football, my job is to enjoy the games, win or lose. I don't interfere with their job, they don't interfere with my job.

Life is good.

Life is good whether the Cowboys play hard enough to win or not.

I would like to thank Jerry Jones for helping me turn myself from a highly bigoted unabashed, unashamed Cowboys fan into an objective fan of NFL football, generally open-minded about all teams, hating none, loving none but enjoying the games regardless of who wins, loses or just quits.

At age 70, life just keeps getting better.

:laugh2: That may be a good philisophy! My Dad passed away a few years back at the age of 70 and one of his doctors jokingly stated that his passion for those **** underachieving Cowboys helped do him in early (If you knew my Dad's commitment to this team you would think it was hysterical)!

Hopefully they will play hard this year and bring you back.

Regardless of what anyone says no team is that much greater than the others.

In this league you can be 5-11 one year and 11-5 the next.

But at the beginning there is always a carry over from the previous season.

In the Cowboys case though it wont matter if we start 8-2, we will still suck in analysts eyes. Its all about December and January to a lot of people.

And those people aren't true football fans. It's not about getting to a point. It's about, to quote Romo, "Enjoying the journey". I love football, period.

That type of mentality is almost a belief in this town. The Rangers will crumble after the All Star break, because of the heat. The Mavericks will win 50+ games, but it won't matter until we see them in the finals, and the Cowboys will crumble in December. Yadda yadda as far as I'm concerned.

I love football, and I watch to be entertained. If I had to fast forward to December, or the SB for that matter I would be utterly pissed. Unlike most of my friends I watch the entire preseaon games, all of it. It's not the starters I want to see..I like seeing the youth...and seeing if we have anybody that can play.

I can't wait......it's going to be fun!

Our Division always has great football. Unparalleled. Consider this.

There have been 43 Super Bowls.

NFC East

Dallas...5-3
Washington...3-2
New York...3-1
Philadelphia...0-2

18 of the 43 have had NFC East representation. 11 of the 43 have had NFC East Super Bowl Champions.

NFC North

Chicago...1-1
Detroit...yeah right
Green Bay...3-1
Minnesota...0-4

12 representations & 4 Champions.

NFC South

Atlanta...0-1
Carolina...0-1
New Orleans...snicker
Tampa Bay...1-0

3 representations & 1 Champion.

NFC West

Arizona...0-1
San Francisco...5-0
St. Louis...1-2
Seattle...0-1

10 representations and 6 Champions.

AFC East

Buffalo...0-4
Miami...2-3
New England...3-3
New York...1-0

16 representations & 6 Champions.

AFC North

Baltimore...1-0
Cincinnati...0-2
Cleveland...goose egg
Pittsburgh...6-1

10 representations and 7 Champions.

AFC South

Houston...cough, cough
Indianapolis...2-1
Jacksonville...who?
Tennessee...0-1

4 representations & 2 Champions.

AFC West

Denver...2-4
Kansas City...1-1
Oakland...3-2
San Diego...0-1

13 representations & 6 Champions.

Only the AFC East comes close in sending teams to the big game, and no one comes close in Champions.

Great stats, also how strong a showing the whole division (well Philly they are trying) makes, it is pretty incredible, and I think all the teams know it so they have to try hard every year. Granted sometimes that means getting spectacular busts, as my team did alot of this decade:banghead:, but every year you know these 4 teams are gonna suit it up. I don't think every division can say that. Especially after the 1st month.

I wasn't alive in the 60's when this franchise suffered heartbreaking defeat after heartbreaking defeat. Nor was I alive in the early 80's when they lost 3 straight NFC title games. But I can't imagine that those instances were that much worse than what we've seen recently. And you know what? Those were the head and tail ends of a dynasty.

Those instances were ten times worse than what we've experienced lately. The further your team goes, the worse the pain when they lose. Losing a first round playoff game dashes your dreams. Losing a divisional round playoff game is upsetting, but offers hope for the next season. Losing a conference championship game seems like the worst feeling in the world -- until your team loses the Super Bowl. There is nothing worse than that as a sports fan. Nothing.

Started this thread late and didn't make clear the real motivation for starting it and the feed back I feedback I was looking for.

First and foremost, the preseason picks mean nothing. We all know that.

Second. The consensus on our 2009 Cowboys is that they are an 8 to 9 win team. Middle of the pack. The power rankings I've seen all have them ranked right in the middle of the pack.

Third. What happens happens. Chance/injuries will play a part. I'm not talking about what will happen because none of us know.

Nobody thinks this team is anything special and I have a hard time understanding what they are looking at.

The Chargers and Eagles are in everyone top 5. They both won 8 games last year. Both sqeaked into the playoffs and did some real damage. Most importantly both were playing their best football down the stretch.
How are these teams that much than the Cowboys puzzels me.

No doubt it is hard for the big guys up front to control their weight, those boys like eating.
