We are just in a bad place quarterback wise DAk is aging in dog years and will be approaching romo's predicament at the end of his career.
Where the injuries have just piled up and he is much less mobile and not able to protect himself.

I really do like Rush but OMG this poor man has no arm strength and somehow survives in spite of himself.
But to his credit the team rallies around him like he's Michael Jordan and they play their hearts out for him and make spectacular plays where conversely they have dropped the ball on Dak and really made him look worse than he was.

All that said we need to use a high pick on a quarterback and should make it a policy to draft and develop quarterbacks so we don't get left in this predicament every 10 years
Well said, my friend.

I will ask the question I keep asking ............If you could cut Dak, would you sign Rush to a long-term deal for $38M ( franchise tag ) and make him your starting QB for the next few years?
Just a few games ago, some fans were calling for Lance to start coz Rush was "trash". Now after a few games we are back to Rush but now he's an NFL starting QB.

Are you willing to trust your team/season off such small samples ..........NOT a coach/GM in the league would trust Cooper Rush with their season/team over a healthy Dak Prescott. Yet here are Cowboys talking about not the possibility BUT probability......... :banghead:

And for those who say players play harder for Rush.......of course, they do, that's nothing new. It's called teamwork ........any coach will tell you when he loses a key player, he going to remind the team all players need to pick it up a notch to help backups. ( Extra effort, block, fight for extra yards ).
Rush wouldn't amount to $38 million. Sam Darnold just cost the Vikings $10 million for the season.

I dont think we need to jump from one extreme to the next. No I would not make Rush my long term starter at QB, and no Dak should not have been signed to an extension without a signature playoff run.
Dak has skin on the wall, Rush Cooper has a few samplings. That's not disrespecting what Rush has done but to suggest he's an NFL starting QB with 12 starts over 7 years is well....... but it's the conversation we are having.

That's not the point......the point is, if he's good enough to replace Dak as your starting QB as some seem to suggest, it will take a franchise tag to keep him off the market. That's the going rate for NFL starting QBs........

Two things are really killing Dak's value as a QB on the field:
- His mobility
- His unwillingness to take snaps from under center

Lots of discussion about his mobility so I'll just talk about the latter. Dak not wanting to drop back really makes a lot of people's jobs harder. The RB's and the blockers in particular. A QB is supposed to make those around him look better. Dak certainly doesn't. Show me one guy on the team who looked better when Dak was playing.

Overall, Dak is certainly a better thrower than Cooper. That said, his tendencies have made it harder for everyone around him which in turn makes it harder for him. Dak was leading the NFL in tight window throws. Cooper just throws to wide open guys. Its not a coincidence. Its the same group of receivers.

Dallas is stuck with Dak. I sure hope he is taking lessons from Cooper right now. Get under center. Keep it simple. Get it out quick.

The Cowboys would be better off with Darnold at $10m than Dak at $60m. I think you would have to be completely nuts to think any differently at this point. That contract is going to be a killer for years for Dallas.

…Between Dak without use of his legs and Rush. Dak still might be better but they don’t seem that different.

Rush started awful, but he also has game snaps equivalent to a rookie in the NFL, and he has improved every week. He throws some dirt balls and frustratingly behind players on routes, but so does Dak. He makes some stupid throws but so does Dak.

It’s only my eyeball opinion. Curious what others think
football players on the field? It had nothing to do with the quarterback. It had to do with the other 22 starters. When your starters get hurt at the backups come in and they actually play just as good or better because they play with heart and not for the money

May not seem that way, but Dak will be our starter, with that contract and Rush, probably won't be back. So, it is what it is.

The stats are comparable for this season, and that looks bad for Jerry/Stephen. I'm starting to view Cooper Rush as the more pure QB, and Dak as the better talent.

Not a good class, but I'm willing to start throwing darts at this point.
Yeah, I know, but there's gotta be at least one hidden gem in there somewhere. besides, I've had it with 30 years of "we don't need to draft a quarterback".

For crying out loud, you put a guy like Baker Mayfield, on this team, and we're not only in the playoffs, we're probably shooting for the top 1 or 2 finishing spots.
But every year it's the same thing. Oh no, we don't want to shoot for a quarterback. What if we miss? gosh I'd rather lose for another 30 years!

I don’t want either one of them
But they should go tell you something. You win because you have football players on the Field, they’re playing with heart because they love the game and not necessarily the paycheck

Exactly. Over the past couple years we coulda picked up several younger, healthier QB's who would have done very well with our talent at a fraction of the price. Jerry is still clinging to 2016 though & wanting to show the world he got it right for once.

Someone mentioned last night about the play calls & how the offense seems to have expanded. It's not because Mike just woke up. It's because the other QB forces him to have a very limited scheme.

No knock on Cooper, but eyeglasses or contacts would be a great start.......but neither will wipe out hate, pre-conceived notions, narratives, or "so does Dak".
