…Between Dak without use of his legs and Rush. Dak still might be better but they don’t seem that different.

Rush started awful, but he also has game snaps equivalent to a rookie in the NFL, and he has improved every week. He throws some dirt balls and frustratingly behind players on routes, but so does Dak. He makes some stupid throws but so does Dak.

It’s only my eyeball opinion. Curious what others think

We are just in a bad place quarterback wise DAk is aging in dog years and will be approaching romo's predicament at the end of his career.
Where the injuries have just piled up and he is much less mobile and not able to protect himself.

I really do like Rush but OMG this poor man has no arm strength and somehow survives in spite of himself.
But to his credit the team rallies around him like he's Michael Jordan and they play their hearts out for him and make spectacular plays where conversely they have dropped the ball on Dak and really made him look worse than he was.

All that said we need to use a high pick on a quarterback and should make it a policy to draft and develop quarterbacks so we don't get left in this predicament every 10 years

Not sure it's a fair comparison, this was by far that Dak has played, but he wasn't getting much help either.

The biggest Gap I see is that when we're supposedly at full strength with all our highest paid players and we need to win and perform in big moments we are absolutely at our worst.

When we have pretty much shot our season in the behind all our money players are injured we're playing our backup guys undrafted free agents low round picks somehow we play our for sure most inspired football and some of the better football I've seen played.

There is no doubt in my mind if DAk and his salary we're completely out of the equation and we had to start Cooper Rush and could take 60 million and invest it in quality free agents we would have probably one 10 games this year.

There isn't one. Everyone keeps saying Rush isnt better than Dak, and maybe he isn't.

But he's not really worse either

But he makes up for it by being able to go through progressions (rather than 'one and done') and finding the most open of the options. His play is kind of negating the ....."we need better receivers". It's not a matter of a weakness, EVERY QB HAS A WEAKNESS, but you need to be able to play to his strengths and Rush's appears to be, he doesnt panic and always looking for a receiver.
Not saying he's the solution, and yes we need to start planning for 2026 (and possible Post June cuts).

Yep, you can build a strategy around his abilities. Was our running game working yesterday?? Are the WR'er's not good enough and we need better, heck was the O-Line dominant? Making the most of what you've got.

Rush functions like a normal QB should except he has a pretty weak arm.
Dak free lances, won't throw over the middle into tight windows and blames everyone else when the play breaks down.
Can you imagine if Dallas would of brought in Baker Mayfield. He would of gotten Dak benched.

I will ask the question I keep asking ............If you could cut Dak, would you sign Rush to a long-term deal for $38M ( franchise tag ) and make him your starting QB for the next few years?
Just a few games ago, some fans were calling for Lance to start coz Rush was "trash". Now after a few games we are back to Rush but now he's an NFL starting QB.

Are you willing to trust your team/season off such small samples ..........NOT a coach/GM in the league would trust Cooper Rush with their season/team over a healthy Dak Prescott. Yet here are Cowboys talking about not the possibility BUT probability......... :banghead:

And for those who say players play harder for Rush.......of course, they do, that's nothing new. It's called teamwork ........any coach will tell you when he loses a key player, he going to remind the team all players need to pick it up a notch to help backups. ( Extra effort, block, fight for extra yards ).

No one is going to pay Rush $38 mil. We can keep him next year for $5 mil and save $55 mil for the rest of the team.

Dak is the better quarterback of the two but Rush has figured out how to utilize the receivers better. The chemistry Rush has developed with guys like Schoonmaker, Flournoy, Tolbert, Cooks, and even CeeDee is fascinating. CeeDee with an injury looks like a top 3 receiver in the NFL now. With Dak I started to wonder if maybe I was over rating CeeDee. The offensive line is the basically the same. We have the same backs. I will give the defense credit it’s much better now then earlier in the season but Dak has got to take some of the offensive responsibility.

I dont think we need to jump from one extreme to the next. No I would not make Rush my long term starter at QB, and no Dak should not have been signed to an extension without a signature playoff run.
