Okay, and we'll worry about those issues in future years.

Just kidding. Jerry and Stephen have their excuse to be cheap NOW, and suckers like you are buying it.

Remind me, if you would.... what was the Joneses' excuse for being cheap when Dak was on his ROOKIE DEAL?
If I recall, they were in cap hell because they were having to ride out Romo’s significant dead money hit. Which is exactly what’s in store with Dak. They’ll move on from Dak when that decision is forced on them, not because of a solid succession plan.

. When your starters get hurt at the backups come in and they actually play just as good or better because they play with heart and not for the money
Does this logic apply to the qb spot also?

Or just all the other backups?

was Dak playing just for money? Did the team sense it?

…Between Dak without use of his legs and Rush. Dak still might be better but they don’t seem that different.

Rush started awful, but he also has game snaps equivalent to a rookie in the NFL, and he has improved every week. He throws some dirt balls and frustratingly behind players on routes, but so does Dak. He makes some stupid throws but so does Dak.

It’s only my eyeball opinion. Curious what others think

In terms of results Dak and Rush will get you to about the same place.

You’re 100% spot on.

From what I have read, this is at Dak's direction. He doesn't like to play from under center because he doesn't see the field as well. He doesn't like to run play action because he doesn't want to turn his head away from looking at coverage. I believe all of this has been said publicly at one point or the other.

Whomever the coach is needs to tell Dak "too bad" and point to Rush. The gains from playing under center and play action outweigh the negatives.
I havent seen any of those in any article or publicly said. Any links?

We can restructure that and save $36M on next year's cap.

What will we do with those savings? That's up to Jerry and Stephen.

Speaking of the Joneses, they've been cheap in regards to outside free agents for YEARS (even back when Dak was on a rookie deal), and we still won 12 games each of the last 3 years.

Blaming Dak's contract for their cheapness is silly.
Yea kick the can down the year and srew the Cowboys in the future. That's what Jerry will do though. Try to build around a washed up broken down QB.

You also did not see any weaknesses in the Dallas roster for this season. Your credibility is net zero.

Dak has been in the league for 9 years.

Rush has been in the league for 8 years.

Do you think 31 other GMs, coaches and coordinators see Rush on Dak's level with their eyeball tests? If so, why haven't any of them snatched Rush off of the practice squad where he spent a bulk of his career?

This conversation is moot b/c the decision to pay Dak was already made. We may not even be able to pay Rush to return next off season. He could be looking at a significant pay raise.

MVP runner-up in 2023.

You can think he's washed based on this season if you want. I disagree.

He didn't play well this year but he also had to deal with an abysmal defense and no run game.

I have no doubt that Dak will bounce back in the 2025 regular season. It's 100% fair to doubt his ability to play well in the playoffs.

I was shocked on the NBC Bucs broadcast they said Rush is “ 31 “ . I thought he was 5 yrs older . If that’s the case then it changes my opinion of him as very serviceable as a back up .

Kenny Picket came in for Hurts and looked quite capable but he’s an ex high draft choice Rush is an UDFA with limited arm .

I suggested in this draft bring in a 2 or a 3 round pick say Jaxson Dart of Ole Miss with the thought of him being the back up but actually competing with Dak holding him accountable and replacing him in games if need be . Dak has no accountability that’s not good for anyone .

Dallas may face Pickett Sunday in Philly

Dak has skin on the wall, Rush Cooper has a few samplings. That's not disrespecting what Rush has done but to suggest he's an NFL starting QB with 12 starts over 7 years is well....... but it's the conversation we are having.
What "skin on the wall"? It certainly isn't Super Bowls, title games, or even playoff wins as he's 2-5 lifetime.

Where do you guys get this stuff? Do you just blurt out absurdities like Dak's "skin on the wall" because you think nobody will refute it? Does it sound good in your head before you post it?

......and there we come full circle. With just a 4 year contract, $40m CAP still outstanding and very little chance he'll get another contract (which restricts the restructure as the bill needs to be paid in full), Dak's not getting that Defense and Run Game, maybe he should up his game to the level of the contract, rather than just above replacement level.

Whenever Jerry tries to put the onus on Dak, he comes up short, (eg. before/after Amari).....it's the Jerry 'Pay and Hope' strategy. Dak just needs too much (everything) to succeed (eg 2023 all round good roster), but the guy just doesnt have the mental fortitude and composure when it matters.....that's the problem.

3-5 - Dak
4-3 - Cooper (would be 5-2 but for the muffed punt return vs Bengals).
The Dak Prescott fans must be hating it.
No, we aren’t hating it. Rush has played every game with a better team than Dak.

Dak haters are just going to have to accept that Prescott will be a Cowboy for probably the next 8 years.

Man please...... If you have no respect for NFL starting quarterback with the record of 76 wins against 46 losses I don't know what to tell you.

It doesn't matter how good Rush is compared to Dak, he will never be an NFL Starter. But that's not important because his job is to be a backup QB and hold the fort if the starter is absent.

And he does this marvelously. Best Backup we could wish for.

He is not as good as Dak though. But with that being said, Dak is also far away from being a good enough QB to lead us anywhere. Top 5 my arse. He's the most mediocre QB I have ever seen. Beating up the team's anyone could beat but with a few more points.

But whenever it's about the friggin QB, when it's about having a guy under center who can make the difference, Dak goes into choke mode and kills all hope that has been built during the "OMG beating the Giants is fun" regular season.
