Heck yeah, Michael. lol. MTV loved this video. It's how I knew the song tbh. "I Want My MTV!" Remember when that actually meant something?? :p

You know looking back on it now, it was an amazing time for music.

I think that's why I have more of an appreciation for 80's music quite frankly than I do the 70's, because I wasn't a big radio listener during the 70's... But did I watch TV during the 80's? You bet!

On top of that I liked the synthesizer, "big hair" thing that was going on back then. Cyndi Lauper, Flock of Seagulls, Men at Work, Big Country, A-Ha, Human League... Luvved'em all! LOL!

Me too, Michael. Me too. I did love the 70s music, though, gotta say. lol. It was sweet, loved it all and especially Disco and Southern Rock. I just have such a love and appreciation for music in general, really, that it is very hard for me to hear something that I really don't like. But I loved ALL the 80s music. It was just all so delicious, in its own ways, each genre, each song, each group, and our 80s fashions were the bomb. Who didn't like glow-in-the-dark clothes?? Lol, I loved them! Parachute pants and Breakdancing? Come on! lol. I was a huge breakdancer, loved breakdance music, and ran with a whole pack of breakdancers back in the day. LOL. Anyway, the music from the 80s hold a special place in my heart. It all brought something exciting to the table and I still listen to it today. Some say it all sounded the same, but if you had a fine tuned musical ear, that was so far from the truth. Regardless of genre, or group. It all sounds still today, maybe even more so now, unique and special. It was just a special time. I loved being a teen in the 80s and I miss that era tremendously.

Well a lot of radio stations back in the mid-later 70s wouldn't play KISS as I guess they weren't considered real music ala Zep/Floyd/Aerosmith, etc. Imagine my 15 yr old broken heart when the DJ told me, "no we will not play calling Dr Love".

I admit I only came to appreciate Kiss because one of my best friends at the time was a huge Kiss/Aerosmith/Queen/Boston fan... Every album and he played them all the time!

"Calling Dr. Love"... Here's a story for you...

It our little part of the world, during the last ice-age, part of the giant glacier came to an end here...

And as it moved south it pushed ahead of it all these massive boulders– I'm talking boulders the size of 2 story house & bigger! The result is there are several areas around here that have these clusters of large boulders. Some have been commercialized and some haven't. One cluster is hidden away from most folks and usually just kids camping and folks wanting to fool around make the trek up there...

I must have been about 16 at the time when he decided to go up and camp out... A group of us guys, including the Kiss aficionado.

I remember it being as dark as the ace of spades, the camp-fire going and his 8-track of "Calling Dr. Love" echoing off the giant boulders clustered around us.

Just one of those things that you never forget. :)

Not to hijack this thread but I can relate to that. Growing up in Doo Dah the local rock station wouldn't play bands like Black Sabbath or Led Zepplin until after 10:00 if at all. The emergence of MTV and Headbangers Ball open my eye (and ears) to an entirely new world of rock.

I was 12 years old living in Grandview, Texas when I first heard Dancing Queen come on the radio. I was so excited and happy that I got up and started dancing and singing with it.

You're lucky. I never saw them because I was living in Hawaii where they were banned from playing because of their pyrotechnic show that was considered too dangerous for the arena. I did see a Kiss tribute band from Kansas years later in Lincoln, NE. They were good. The Gene Simmons impersonator even did the fire breathing.

They put on one heck of a show, the first time I saw them they did 5 Encores.

The 1st time I saw them it was the original band, but not the 2nd time. 1st Time I saw them it was a much better show, and that's the show they did 5 encores.

I'm envious. That's awesome. It's too late to see them as the original act, but I wouldn't mind seeing them just the same. The current lineup is still good. I even like some material from their non-makeup years.

I like ABBA too. It's weird because I really didn't like them that much when I was young. It was only when I got a little older that I realized, hey, they got cool songs. Here's one you don't often hear, probably because it's Ulvaues in the lead, instead of Anni or Agnetha, but I like it.
