I know y'all hear stuff like this all the time and some of you even think you have an impact in the outcome. Of course, we know better than that. Some of you wear your lucky jersey. Some of you have some sort of routine you follow. Some of you haven't changed your underwear since 95. I get it, but those things are always just slightly less than effective. I am the key to us winning tomorrow. Further, I can guarantee a win the following week.
Unfortunately, I have no control over the actual Superbowl. We'll just have to ball out that game and beat whoever makes it there to play us.
I have been a Cowboys' fan since conception. I have missed watching two games since 1985...and neither was my fault. One was due to visiting my wife's family on Thanksgiving. They had no cable and no care for what makes a proper Thanksgiving day. I haven't visited them since. The second was due to the new dadgum flex scheduling thing. The moved the game time after my wife had made "unchangeable" plans. We have stayed married, but it was touch-and-go there for a while.
I was given tickets to my first actual game by my dad as an early Christmas gift many years ago. It was December 6th, 1987. It such a beautiful day. Unseasonably mild. T-shirt stuff. We played a team I cared nothing about, the Atlanta Falcons. We went on to win 27-10. I still have the foam finger they were giving away around here somewhere.
Fast forward to the only other game I've seen in person. November 11th, 2001. My wife and I bought tickets at the beginning of the year. We couldn't get the tickets we wanted...you know...a division rival. So, I ended up at yet another Falcons game. We rooted and cheered the Cowboys on to yet another victory over a team I cared nothing about. 20-13.
One way or another, I'm buying tickets to the game for next week. That should not only guarantee that we beat Green Bay, but that we will play Atlanta next week and that we'll win.
We are on our way to the Superbowl friends.
You're welcome.
