I kinda hope Rush Starts

They have been prepping Cooper Rush for 4 years for this moment...even decided to steal him away from Garrett last year and then chose him over DiNucci (AKA the "Young Romo") and Garrett Gilbert (one of the best backup QB performances in a losing effort in team history)

Maybe it works out, maybe it doesn't. But I want to see just for the fun of it. Do it Jerry/McCarthy!

yeah

Remember 2014

Missing Romo for two games (Washington and Arizona home losses) meant ALL the difference in likely making the Super Bowl or suffering the defeat in Lambeau that we did to the zebras and Rodgers.

If Romo doesn't miss those, we're the #1 seed, get the bye, likely make the super bowl with HFA. Instead we lose the three way tiebreaker at 12-4 and have to play wild card weekend and then go on the road, thus squelching our season.

We CANNOT afford to miss Dak for any games, it will ruin our standings. We must get the bye if we want a Super Bowl this year.

Earning the number one seed certainly wouldn’t have guaranteed us a Super Bowl appearance in 2014. We’ve had two number one seeded teams in 07 and 2016 go one and done. Bye weeks usually don’t help us.

If Rush has to play just hope for a Jason Garrett performance.

I was at the game vs GB on Thanksgiving. Both Aikman and Pete went down the week before vs Washington. I was not expecting much that day from the Cowboys. 1st half GB took a 17 to 6 halftime lead and GB fans were trash talking Cowboy fans and having a real good time. 2nd half Jason figured out, in those one on one matchup with Irvin and Harper if he got it down the field they could beat their man and make the plays. end results 42 to 31 Cowboys. Packer fans were not laughing when they left the game.

No way I can say Rush would do good or bad in a 1 game situation but what I can say is he has some legit weapons to lean on. Go in looking to run and when Minn plays it one on one trust that Cooper and Lamb can go make the plays

Garrett Sucks...

Agreed, but that ship has sailed..

The ship has certainly sailed and we could be headed for some rough seas ahead if Dak’s injury were to linger or something more serious pops up. I believe if Jerry and Stephen thought the team would be as good as it is they would have prepared with a better backup QB. I don’t think either one of them expected us to be 5-1 at this point.

It depends, but that year was different. The two places we absolutely didn't want to play in were Seattle and especially Lambeau, and those ironically were the #1 and #2 seeds. Seattle was undefeated at home all year that year... except for their game against us. So we really just needed to avoid Lambeau (and the world famous Lambeau Zebras) to make the Super Bowl that year.

I don't need too, just like you don't need too...but spewing negatives without any rhyme or reason is getting old....
It is just a loser mentality which is very odd right now with the team doing so well.

I don't believe it's negative to not have any faith in a guy that has 3 pass attempts in his 5 years career starting against a good team on Sunday Night Football.

I believe it's much easier to think that things are going to go bad with Rush playing Sunday than trying to play the mental gymnastic it would take to convince yourself that he'll play well.

Both of our number one seeded teams lost at home in the playoffs.

What? I said I want Dak to start, but if he doesn't thus is a good time for it because of the trade deadline.....apparently you didn't get the gist of the thread.

It is funny and negative to say that they will lose and it will be an embarrassment if Rush plays when the Cowboys are the better team.

Playing for the #4 seed of doom is loser's mentality. I'd much prefer to miss the playoffs altogether and to move on from football season to money-making season in January than to get there again only just to have our dreams crushed again, no thank you.
Playing for the 4th seed is loser mentality? But wanting to miss the playoffs altogether is not?

I see your point, but I always got my seconds into the game when I could to evaluate and get film on them, any opportunity I had..

both of those teams were unbalanced and not built to drop back and pass pass pass and score quickly (2007 Romo with bad pass pro oline/2016 rookie Dak despite great oline was a check down charlie unlike today's Dak) also both teams had inferior defenses than now, the 2021 Cowboys defense definitely does better at home and feeds off the home crowd energy unlike previous Cowboy teams

I get the gist of what he has said all over this board. He has said that Rush is a bum, the Cowboys will lose, and they will be embarrassed.

at 5-1, hands kinda tied toward the 2014, 2007, 2016 ball park

You have three categories of season...

Category A: 2007, 2014, 2016, possibly this year

Category B: 2008, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2017, 2018, 2019 - the most common type, especially in the Garrett era. Either we just barely make or barely miss the playoffs, either way we're going nowhere

Category C: 2010, 2015, 2020 - seasons lost to QB injury early on, and we can mercifully move on from football until the next year's training camp.

I played sports and learned along time ago that 2 possible outcomes will take place, you win or you lose. You give best effort and deal with it like a man regardless of the outcome. I want nothing more than to see this team back in the SB and win it. I have seen every SB appearance this team has made and still want it just as bad. But I will not sit there and say unless we get 1 or 2 seed I don't want to watch it, I would as soon they lose? Give me a break. NY Giants went in as a WC took Down Dallas then went too Green Bay and took them down then faced Unbeaten Pats team and won. No one knows the outcome of any game. Great thing about sports it is not scripted, what took place last year or last 25 years means nothing and has no bearing on anything.

It's kind of impossible to miss the playoffs without tanking when your division rivals are philthy, deadskins and jason garrett. no qb's.

I understand that you are worried about Dak....but I'd rather forfeit the game then risk someone else getting hurt during a Rush start....the guy is trash and has ZERO business still being our backup....especially given we are 5-1....there is a ZERO percent chance of us winning with him at QB the entire game.
Bookmarked.
