I was just thinking and for some reason (outside of the Titans picks) I think Jerry has something to do with Pacs suspension. I think in all honesty that Godell would have just put the nail in the coffin on Pac. But he did not. Why? I think Jerry told him the kids got a problem lets see if we can clean him up and revisit a longer suspension in a little later. If he cant theres nothing to lose. Why else would Godell have a wait and see attitude?

So b/c Jerry prevented Goodell from kicking Pacman out of the league for good, he did a BAD thing?

If Goodell really wanted to put the nail in Pacman's coffin, then why would you think Jerry should be wasting his time by asking him to let him off the hook completely?

My personal take is this country has a severe political correctness problem. How does this pertain to Pac you ask? Well, what is the ultimate get out of jail free card in courts all across the land for drug and alcohol slip-ups? REHAB. If Pac goes through rehab, IMHO, the commish almost has to give him one more shot because he will have shown the willingness to get "help". There are a lot of companies that won't fire you if you get help. Even if you have no intention of staying sober, if you just take that magic rehab pill you are good to go for the short term. Problem is 90% relapse. I suspect Pac will get another chance, and i suspect he will fail in the end, at least as far as the NFL goes.

I think it became obvious at their meeting that Pac has some serious troubles.

Ditching on a guy who needs helps looks terrible. If Pac were to go crazy and lose it, it really would make the NFL look sloppy.

"We want you to behave well but if you have issues that are too serious for us, we will shuffle you under the rug so you aren't our problem".

I think a more involved theory that'd catch some real heat would be to suggest that Jerry set up Pacman to get a minor suspension to get his picks back. Seems really easy to screw over Tennessee here.

Yeah, that's why Jerry paid 4 bodyguards to watch him day and night. Just to sabatoge him.

You're right, that ******* theory would catch more heat.

Jerry didn't raise the bottle to Pac's lips.

True. But there are some people who just cannot help themselves.

If Alcoholism is the underlying issue to all of Pac's problems it is kind of pointless to punish him for actions that would very easily be avoided if you could treat the alcoholism.

Like a friend of mine once said "its kind of like putting a band aid over a gunshot wound".

I really don't know what to think. On one hand, I think that Goodell is trying to straighten Adam out but on the other, I think he might just be doing what needs to be done in order to avoid responsibility later on. Like I said in another post, if Adam has a REAL problem, not just an issue with authority or need for street cred, but a real issue that needs to be addressed so that he can function as a human, Goodell almost has to give him another chance.

It just doesn't look good to throw a guy out when he has real issues.

We'll see how it goes. I've been pretty busy and haven't kept up but I guess hes going to go to rehab. He probably should, at least the public perception of him will become a little more positive......Or maybe that only works in Hollywood.

pacman didn't wanna man up v. Cards and he got in trouble so Goodell would call him to his office so he can hit that strip club in NY and avoid getting toasted by Larry all in 1 weeken

This idea that just because you might be a alcoholic that you have no personal responsibility makes me want to puke. You always have a choice. If you are not strong enough to resist it then its on YOU. Its YOUR failure. Cancer, etc does not give you a choice (well maybe if you are stupid enough to smoke). Picking up a bottle is ALWAYS a CHOICE.

Both of my parents were alcoholics and both quit drinking. My brother is an alcoholic. I am quite aware of how alcoholism is a disease.

The question is, does he want to beat the disease or does he want the disease to beat him? Right now, the disease is winning.

I got a PM from someone I respect a lot who told me that if Goodell suspends him for life they will fight it on the grounds that alcoholism is a protected disease under the Americans With Disabilities Act. Hence why he is now in rehab.

I got another PM from another person I respect who told me Pacman has been drinking vodka because it is the easiest to disguise.

If he truly has a problem I do feel for him, but you still have to recognize that no one can force you to drink and feed your disease. He has so much going for him and so many reasons to get better. Guys like you and me can only dream of his kind of talent. If I had his skills nothing could steal it from me. Not even a disease, because I would beat that disease.
