These Emo posters want everyone to be just as miserable as they are.

Its the start of a new season ..... only a bitter idiot would not be excited with all the talented youth we have on this team.

Hes right though.. I guarantee you the first game of pre-season people will be complaining about the offense. That is how sad it is on this board. I highly doubt we will have a dominant offense. I think we will be decent but not at the levels of the 07 offense. I will say this though. You can quote me on it later in the season. The defense WILL be dominant.

This is how it is with every fanbase. It's not unique to this forum or the Dallas Cowboys or even the NFC East.

Some people are excited and optimistic.

Some are fed up with those who are excited and optimistic. They in turn are pessimistic.

The optimists think the pessimists are lesser fans and it's one big giant melting pot called a forum.

The idea that every person is of the exact same mind and opinion on every topic bores the hell out of me, yet every day we have one side or the other pissing and moaning about the other side.

It would be comical if it wasn't so drama tinged and futile.

A challenge to anyone.

Find me a Dallas Cowboys forum that doesn't have some fans that are optimistic and thinking we could be dominant on both sides of the ball and Special Teams. The entire forum must be sick to death of the Cowboys and they must be convinced that this is just another wasted season.

Disclaimer...if that forum exists it is because if you are positive all the time you will be banned.

I don't believe any of you can find me that forum. I'm a member on all but one of the Cowboys forums and every one of them has positive fans who are excited as a puppy and every one of them has people sick of the puppies.

I call BS that it's not unique to this fanbase.

I can say with nearly complete certainty that the people who are "fans" of the cowboys are way more pessimistic and negative than other fans who don't expect as much from their teams.

The 90s weren't so far back as not to elevate expectations to ridiculous levels, nor is 13-3 and hard knocks.

Folks got caught up in the hype machine and now blame it on the team and jerry, not themselves.

one should be thankful to root for this team, not ***** about it incessantly.

no other team in the league is as storied as the cowboys, that alone is something to be proud of, but too many "fans" want the team to prove something to them.

The star proves something to me.

Why don't you wait til you see the guy play before you open your mouth in the issue. I was one of the most vocal posters against letting TO go largely because it scared the crap out of me who we'd have as #2 and #3s. But after actually seeing the guy play I'm convinced he's 100% legit. He could ne a #1 for us he's that good.

Theo, the guy has been here for three season and had 23 catches.

Save for the Green Bay game, Austin is still in the show me stage.

It's Okay that I express an opinion that is opposed to yours.

Show me, Miles. Because one catch in three games in December is a bit scary to me.

I don't know. I am thankful for my life. I am thankful for the good things that happened in my life. Why the hell would i be thankful for a football team? I don't know. It just seems strange to me. If this team doesn't win a championship in 80 years i am supposed to be proud?? Go ask how a Toronto Maple leafs fan feels. Great franchise but they haven't won **** in 50+ years. People want the Cowboys to bring the championship back to Texas.. Not sit around and talk about how great the Cowboys history is. Steelers are ahead of us. It makes me sick.

I understand the hesitation. I really do. But the last time I had this argument about a player I felt this strongly about was 2006 and it happened to be another UDFA. And I feel just as strongly now about Austin as I did then about Romo. But you don't have to take my word for how good this guy. I'm just saying wait until you see the guy in real action. Then you'll know what the hype from everyone that's been to training camp is about.

Hos...this isn't about this board, or the posters here. Its four practices in and suddenly we are dominate.

Seems like every year for the past few thefans are jumping quicker each season to hailing this is the year. I'm sure it has something to do with starved fans wanting success. Now factor in the Eagles and Giants over the past six or seven seasons and their success and it's twice as distatseful.

But four practices in. Come on. That's not pessimism pointing out that this team is not as good sas it might be, but any blue sky right now is way premature..

However, repeating the same behavior over and over expecting different results is the definition of crazy.

It happens every year TD. You know that. I'm not telling you anything you don't already know. My gosh man, Vinny TestaGeritol was going to lead us to the promised land.

Every year someone has a feeling, and they share it. Let them. Who is it hurting?

Have you noticed that I put Patrick Crayton as the #2 WR in all the play formation threads I'm doing? I haven't bought into the Miles Austin hype, but if others have who are they hurting?

Are they damaging their souls? Are kittens dying? Are pygmies starving in New Guinea?

Is fire and brimstone coming down from the sky? Are rivers and seas boiling? Are we facing 40 years of darkness, volcanoes, and earthquakes? Are the dead rising from the graves? Will there be human sacrifices? Are dogs and cats living together? Is it mass hysteria?

If not, then why is it such a big deal that some people see dominance? Are they forcing you to take the same drugs that caused their hallucinations?

I am thankful that the Cowboys are my team.

thankful it's not detroit or cincy or philly, thankful I have something to point to.

Everyone is thankful for life, if they aren't they don't deserve it.

It's like the prize in the cereal box to be a part of the Cowboys, irrational as it is they are a part of my life.

My grandmother started it and it likely ends with me and it is something I have a ton of pride in, Texas and the Cowboys, they are both a part of me.

I view the 90s as a blessing I didn't deserve, but something I am proud of.

luck happens, faith happens, both are random and both are life changing, I have faith in the Star.

Feels good to say that.

Then you'll know what the hype from everyone that's been to training camp is about.

I wrote up a rather long post four months ago about that player and the ambient results of his success and the negative impact on the fans it will bring.

Cliff Notes.

Romo walked on and will set new records for the position by the time he is through. Some will hail him as the best this team ever had.

I will wait until he wins his thrid Super Bowl; and is MVP once in that game to crown him so.

But then I am a guy who thinks Marino was a quality QB, but no ring means he isn't top five in my book.

I digress.

The results of Romo walking on and being so good will cause fans every year to see people like Austin and Amendola and Danzler and Hambrick and believe if this guy just gets a chance, they will be sure he will be the next great thing.

Romo's skill set and success has now breathed life into the UDFA being the next Rudy for this team.

And each one of those guys will believe, as you do, that the player they now have this "feeling" about will be greatness.

But this league didn't make its money off UDFA. It made its money off recognizing talent and desire. Things you can measure.

So there will be threads each year professing, "if you just give the young guys a chance."

Those same threads were made about Quincy.

I think each player is a case by case incident. Deriving any inkling into the skill level of the player because of, "some other guy was a world shaker and I'm getting that same tingly feeling on the back of my neck" is almost to the point of being a paranormal experience.

I don't believe in ghosts or guys who have shown in one game thwey can sneak on a defense and the rest of the season didn't do much. Injury or no.

Trust me I've heard the "it's just preseason" argument before. But it doesn't taking hitting me over a head with a hammer to know it hurts. Just the same I don't have to actually see a player post great stats before Im able to say he's capable of doing so. It's as obvious as can be when you see the guy play.

i agree...

a simple....."i dont agree because"........would be enough, no need to attack each other guys, some are more excited than others, all these seasons i have been let down, turned the game off early, walked around pissed, i can still get excited, and feel good about our team

its not like were the Broncos, were we are getting rid of every single star player, we are improving every year

they need Austin and Felix Jones on the field. Witten, Williams, Crayton, Barber don't have the speed to stretch the field or back the safeties up
