I have been watching a lot of Footage of Practice and the QB's look good. We watched Rush last year and we know that He is physically limited but is very savvy

I was interested in Grier, so I did a quick search. I was already aware that He was a highly touted QB recruit and even a Heisman Candidate. I never watched that much of His Film

After watching this . . . I have 1 Question . . .

Is He dropping Dimes?

I Do not think there was a QB that we could have drafted that would be better then Him

Go Cowboys

Has not translated to this level. He looks good at times and not so good at other times. Not saying he has had a bad camp, just that he doesn't always play up to his ability.
That is correct , with Qbs it is not only arm ability , it is the thing between ears which matter most , Grier I dont know last pre season was not doing good, may be it could be trying to do too much or playing with 3rd stringers .

There's occasional miracle stories in the NFL, but Grier becoming a good starter would be especially extraordinary.

He's 28 years old. He played one NFL game in 2019 and had 4 interceptions.

He'll likely end up on the Cowboys practice squad, if even that.

(In bold ^^^^): No, sir. The NFL made a new exception (thanks to the 49ers going through 3+ QBs in 2022 due to season-ending injuries) starting this year that every team can carry a 3rd QB without it affecting their 53 man roster.

Thanks for the info. I recall league chatter about such a rule, but didn't know they finalized it.

Doesn't change my opinion about Grier as a guy I want to see playing Cowboys QB.

I have been reading His Scouting Reports

Weaknesses are 1) He can be rattled under Pressure 2) Average Arm and 3) A Gunslingers Mentality that leads to 50/50 balls

Other then that He has a great touch on the Ball and Goes through His Progressions really well . . . Apparently He is also a leader

Some say that the lack of Arm Strength is a result of poor Mechanics because He doesn't use His Hips properly . . . Maybe He fixed that

Right Now to me He is a complete unknown and He is the one I will be looking to watch this preseason to see what he is

He looked good in college. He looked good in previous camps. But in games he shrinks.

He didn't get rattled that day in Austin! I was more rattled than he was, up in the stands...lol.
Rush did a good job last year, but this kid has legs and can run the whole playbook. Dak played poorly at times last year, I hope MM has the answers, if not I'd rather see Grier than Rush.

realitically, I think the cowboys want Grier to win it, show enough to win it, but he is hot and cold. he has a higher upside, since Rush is limited physically, has peaked and cowboys know that, but he is consistent.
for your back up you want someone reliable and consistent.

I am leaning that way myself but I want to see Him in Action 1st. . . Besides Cooper looks good in Practice. Grier will really have to impress to move ahead of Rush on depth Chart. America's Cowboy posted that keeping a 3rd QB will not affect the 53 man roster, so that clears up a lot of the worries that I had . . . I was worried we would lose a young player to keep him but that point is mute now

I’ve seen several shoot outs in Austin too…..but seriously, any quarterback given up on by the Panthers must have some real issues. This is the same team that thought Darnold and Mayfield were quality quarterbacks so putting him on waivers says something
