Yes, I did have one, there was an old childless married man that worked and he was probably 4-5 years away from retirement then,he'd had it for years and gave her to me,cuz' he was getting old, Dad would send me home with him for the weekend a couple of times to hang out with him and his wife,they lived across the Wabash river in he took me to Saint Louis Cardinal games and we rode up in that Arch casing-liner,,,I was only about 10 ( he had been diagnosed with cancer)
Many people have had coon's for pets. Just have to catch them young. They adapt well. They can gut a dog in about 5 seconds if cornered.

LoL, well,,I am a highly trained professional American and survived many fireball flash overs while diagnosing faulty control valves and the like,,,in my prior past endeavors,,, yes, Coach they get hung up high where cross ventilation dissipates any buildup of combustible gas

She had one as a pet also, she had some of his teeth removed and 'fixed' she said that cooled his jets big time when she had that done, she said one time ,,,just like something out of the movies she'd come home and that raccoon had wreaked total havoc inside the house ( got in the fridge,Too) so, that's when he went to see the Dr.

Some of the ol' time coon hunters claim if they can lead those hounds out into deep enough water the coon will drown that dog by holding it's head under water
