I love Lee, but have we seen the last of him as a Cowboy?

I believe he would be a large cap hit. If he gets through training cap, he will start and still be the best LB on the field.

Going into 2015 Lee will have missed 31 out of his last 48 games due to injury -- and that's not counting some of those games last year where he was playing with a hurt neck and contributed little.

His historical metrics tell us that even if he starts the 1st game next season it's highly unlikely that he'll play even half of the season... his average at that point (based on 2012-2014) will have been 6 games per season....

As good as he is, does it make sense for the team to make any plans with Lee as a starter? It just doesn't sound like good football logic to me.

I think if Lee can't play football anymore, I hope he stays with the Cowboys organization as a Linebacker coach or scout for future linebackers for the Cowboys.

If he wants to continue playing, I think we have seen the last of Lee as a Cowboy.

People...the Cowboys can't just "move on".

Sean Lee is good enough that you give him another run next year. If something happens then, he probably retires anyway. The guy is such a vital part of the team (as anyone could notice from the video and players reactions). He deserves the FO to be 100% behind him and his recovery.

If there is anybody on the planet who can overcome what Sean Lee is going through right now, it is Sean Lee.

I am not going to call it a career just yet.

It's way, way early to think about if Lee has played his last game or not.

I think he's going to get healthy first and then will decide his future.

Bring this thread up again next March and we can post about it some more.

He may still play football but in no way is he our future. We have to look for his eventual replacement. We can't assume for a second that we can count on him. May be a good backup player.

When was he vital?

The last do or die game to make the playoffs or the six he missed prior to that? 2 seasons in a row.

Vital...........this dude injures himself.

If he can come back from the injury they will absolutely keep him on the roster next year. They'll give him another go next summer. I don't think his salary is too expensive over the next couple of years so, yeah, if he decides to rehab hard and with the intention of playing next year then they'll definately bring him back next year.

I love him but I absolutely wouldn't be upset if they just decided to move on and forget it. The guy is a warrior, he's a great guy, but he's never going to stay healthy.

I don't even consider him a guy that can play half a season. We need to move on without him.

He’s had a laundry list of injuries including a torn right ACL while at PSU. Add in a toe injury which required surgery, a neck injury and hamstring trouble, and he looks more like the guy from the game “Operation” than a NFL player. And now this. So surprised!

Let that marinate long enough and you will start to feel sick. :(

If it's cheaper to play him than cut him, I think that Jerry will opt to play him.

Have we seen the last of him as a Cowboy? The guy has all the talent, but this has become a ritual. His injuries progress by the years. Is it time to say good-bye?

As usual..

we bend over backwards trying to deal with his issues.

Isn't this the same knee he hurt in Penn State?

Jerry's going to ride the Lee train until the last, possible minute.....just as he has with other players. We will see him again in 2015, 2016, etc, etc. Eventually, he might even be able to play 14 games in a season and JJ won't give up until he does.

Unfortunately, he'll be back. And then he'll get hurt in the 2015 preseason this time

Please retire Sean & let's move on.

i agree, hope he retires and heads to the broadcasting booth as that would do several things….save us dead money against the cap we could use elsewhere and 2) hopefully enable Sean to have functional knees and walk when he's 40 years old.
