He still needs to prove his worth on Special Teams to force the staff to carry a FB on the 53. Remember the team went into Week 1 last year without a FB. Hopefully this guy makes his mark both in the running game and Special Teams.

Not really. All that has to happen is to prove they can consistently make short yardage 1st downs and the guy probably has a job.

I know he's UDFA.. but I think it's more due to the positional importance. RB didn't even go in the 1st this year... but any way, to be so huge this guy is very athletic. I would love to keep a thumper around, especially with the recent commitment to OL.

Wonder if he is on the active roster when the season starts. Seems like they don't use a FB much here.

If they do keep one, he better learn how to catch the ball and do more than simply be a lead blocker in short yardage. He was not the every down fullback at LSU and it is a stretch to assume he's a lock for the roster in Dallas unless he can show versatility.

I envision him being more of a practice squad player and they fatten him up for a conversion to guard ala Waters. And to that end I can already hear the lamentation of our fans when he is cut trying to sneak him on it.

Linehan said on the radio that he wants to use a FB.

Broaddus is an LSU homer and was talking about this guy through the whole draft process.

Dude is a flat out monster, he erases LB's. We need to pound the rock this year hard. This guy will be a game changer.

Don't know if anyone had posted this, it's funny as hell. I don't know how to put the video on here.

Watched it live, it was hilarious. I'm rooting for him. Wait for the interview.

I hope that they learned from using Bosworth (I think) as a FB that keeping one around is a good idea. I like Copeland, and whether he's the guy who sticks or no, every team can make room for a hammer like that.

I actually think Copeland is probably athletic enough to line up as a TE and block, which should make him more flexible than just a lead blocker.

that is a good angle. Garrett has always brought it from the other direction--TE in the backfield to block, no reason Copeland couldn't motion up to the LOS to a TE position and go, hopefully he can play some STeams and grab a roster spot.

There is a difference between running into a college LBer and running into Sean Lee or Demarcus Ware et al... I am hopeful and wish him and all other UDFAs and 7th rounders the best. But I am not betting the rent money on this years bunch till at least after pre-season.

Move over Newhouse, meet the new 44. :D

And at 6'3 270 with quick feet, he could always convert to 3 tech. Marinelli seems to favor those big RB conversions like Melton and Whaley.

Reminds me of a player the skins had for many years Mike Sellers. Could be a pleasant surprise if we decide to run the ball. It's a big if.

Sellers was a good receiver though. They need to work with him about catching the football if they want a full service fullback. Otherwise he's a gimmick player for short yardage.
