Might've been a Mojave Green, brother

Deadliest snake in NA. Per LD-50. Just killed a woman out here a couple years back
No, they are in a very limited A.O.,,, I used to drink beers(a lot) with a neighbor who was retired air force ,,,his main job was range master at a bombing range in Cali (I think?) Cuz that's where he'd send all the Mohave greens he'd catch for some gal professor at u.c.l.a.or u.s.c.(I can't remember:huh:) as it was limited knowledge on them with habits and effective antivenin,, in fact
" Sandy" (last name was Sanders) was instrumental in helping write the book on what's known, I'm thinking they don't get over 2.5' in length,,, ha, he said he'd drive around in his air force jeep with a beer cooler and a .22 and drink beer and shot quail over a water hole all day( he was THE rangemaster after all LOL) said he'd caught some desert rat brass scrapper that was collecting those 30 something mm canon shells from the after thought belly gun pod they slapped together for the F-4 Phantom jet ,that would kick out 5-6 live unfired shells after a gun run, he said this old rat had made some kind of swivel casing-liner with a long leverage arm that fit inside the sideboard holes of a pickup truck and this dude was just yarding those explosive shell out of those brass cases and dump the powder out and sling the projos over his shoulder and the cases into the truck bed:lmao::lmao::lmao:
Said if one would've went off him and half the truck would've pretty much evaporated,,,, I think they were a spin arming type of casing-liner thougho_O

Down in south TX we have blue indigos that eat rattlesnakes. Same species of snake eats cobras in other parts of the world. And they are not venemous..

WoW! That blue had crushed and squeezed the very life out of that rattler,,, not a fraction of a twitch left in it,,, and the freaking strength it still had left in its tanks to be yarding it along with it on those crude oil flow pipes 2' off the ground is amazing that dude pumping that oil production works for a good outfit all the piping, valves and hammer unions painted to code and I know that first vertical tank that snake went around is a gas separator which is highly indicative of high volume production and keeps a gas surge from slopping oil everywhere ,didn't get a good enough look at the piping to figure out the other two skinny vertical tanks were , the holding tanks were on the other end of that set of stairs,,
That was a cool video, thanks for putting this up

Constrictors, even small (King Snakes, for example) often prey on venomous snakes.

Gonna watch this vid now, thanks 74!

Edit -- that Blue Indigo is gorgoues. It's a constrictor for sure, as it's twice the size of that Diamondback and non-poisonous. I've never heard of a "Blue Indigo", gonna read about them tonight when I finish reading about Jaguars (feline). Thanks, 74. :)

That brass is a pretty penny. When I lived in Barstow after ETS'ing, a dude blew up his mobile home (and himself) trying to separate a UOD

Wow!!!!!!!

That kid was a daggon hustler, wasn't he!! Lol :)
I'm sure that kid learned a valuable lesson too....... always get your money up front :p

Many, many moons ago I attended Texas A&M at Galveston and volunteered for the Stranded Marine Mammal Network. One of our duties were to post posters for anyone seeing any stranded Marine Mammals and posters for Kemp Ridley turtle sightings with info and numbers to call and such. Me and my buddy picked the area south of San Luis Pass. It was cool, just spend a Saturday pretty much hitting every bait shop and beer joint from the Pass to Surfside. There was some hole in the wall beer joint near Surfside that had a pretty good size rattlesnake in a big glass aquarium. They had a deal that if you could hold your hand against the glass and not flinch when the rattler struck, they'd give you a free beer, but you only get one try. It sounds easy enough, but even when you know it's coming and it can't hurt you, it still don't matter. We both took our turn and we both flinched, reflex just takes over. The bartender said they don't give out many beers.

I used to have a 83 y.o. hunting buddy ( we'd drink two beers a day no more and never no less, sometimes that first beer was at 0430 going down the road lol)
We'd got into a big covey of gamble quail late January/ early February and were knocking them down, they stayed bunched up in flight and would watch where they'd light so we were gonna limit out at 15 birds each pretty quick, so I'm blowing off to Paul about how the next rattle snake I come across I'm gonna eat cuz I'd heard they weren't bad(he'd kill them and porcupines because he didn't want his dog to get into them the next time they went out) so this covey broke over a big hill as it's about the FORTH time we'd kicked'em up and banged them down, so I crest the the highest steepest part of the hill and the wind was kinda whistling and my ears were kinda dull ringing from shooting a bunch (this steep dropping slope was facing southern sun exposure and was kinda like a scree slope with a bunch of small flat rocks and I'd turn my head and it would sound like there was a rattle snake in my back pocket ,I'd turn my head to the left and could only hear wind, so I call over to Paul
" hey,Paul! I think I've got a rattle snake behind me, and I can't see him and don't want to move",,, that old crusty bastid blew on his whistle to call his dog to get her away and said"yer' on yer' own kid,,,come on sue!"(no ****, that's what he said,,, thanks a ****ing pantload, pal)
So this thing behind me is warmed up and really buzzing those 14 rattle buttons,,,so I just did a standing free jumped like a kangaroo down the slope and turned around and this sucker was all coiled up in classic strike pose with like a foot sticking up from the coil ,my shotgun blast took a good foot off its length from the head down and it was still 5+ foot long and almost forearm thick,,,whew, well I'd just been running my mouth about eating one and by golly the good lord put it to me,,, I stuffed it in my game vest and caught up to Paul and that headless snake came back to life and started slithering right up my spine ( I'd prolly walked 400-500 yards with just dead birds/ snake) man alive, I jumped, squalled and damn near crapped my pants the first time that dead snake creeped up between my shoulder blades:lmao::lmao2::lmao:

( that was one of the old timers you don't come across much anymore, prolly cuz' of that rough terrain as cows wouldn't even hang out in ito_O)
So, did it taste like chicken?

I respect all of god's creatures but like everyone else, I have my preferences. Here in the Texas countryside, I always assume all snakes I come across are poisonous until I identify them otherwise. I admit I've slain my share of serpents that had the misfortune of crossing my path but I always let the non poisonous ones slither away. Snakes kill rodents that kill crops and spread disease. As for sharks... I have no love for them other than the fight they put up on the end of a deepsea rod & reel. I stay away from them and do my part to ensure they stay away from me.

This is amazing!! Yes, Nurses usually only attack when stepped on in shallow waters, but they do pack a bite.

Ever see a White, Colo?
So, if I have done this correctly, I have embedded a GoPro video from a shark dive in Fiji this past March. Lots of reef sharks -- black tip, white tip, one silver -- and even more snapper. Interestingly enough, the snapper were the more aggressive... good to eat, but nasty disposition.
