Do the rest of you get sucked in thinking they will win knowing down deep they likely won't? It never ceases to amaze me how disappointed I get.

I know it's very frustrating being a fan of this team lately. But honestly, If I ever decided to stop being a Cowboys fan, I would just stop watching football. I just cannot see myself rooting for any other team.....I just can't.
same here....live in Michigan and have to watch the Lions alot...and usually don't end up watching at all. Or go to a sport bar and watch the Cowboys: been a fan since Roger, TOny and the Manster in 77'....wont' stop now. I don't hate Red or Tony or Dez for his tantrums...but I do intensely dislike Jones for emulating Al Davis in every way, shape and form. Perfect clone...and we will continue to suffer for it because he is a classic narcissist and won't admit failure and hire someone competent to run the team.

The MOST depressing part to me is his kid idolizes him and is starting to say and do the same idiotic nonsense. Plus....we are WAY over the cap for next year. I've said for years some of the deals they gave out would come back to haunt (Jrat, Austin, Romo, SPencer last year) and they will. VERY poorly run team....sad.

Good grief ........Nobody is making anyone watch the game ........ if you cant stand to see them lose the do not watch them, because in the 53 years that the Cowboys have been playing in the NFL ...... only 5 of those years did not end with a loss.

If you cannot stand watching a team of millionaires lose ....... you picked the wrong sport to follow.

And it's fans that think like this that Jerry loves...just keep filling the coffers! 7-9, 8-8 is fine as long as we win polls for "most popular, " and ranked as most valuable...

To say Jerry isn't worried about winning is completely ludicrous. I mean come on, really? I would say he is the most passionate owner, him being a great business man has absolutely nothing to do with that.

He only wants to win one way-HIS way, if he really wanted to win he would emulate what (current) winning organizations do, I'll finish with a cliche-hire a GM, write the checks and keep your mouth shut Jerry, (ain't gonna happen)

Well, I think he wants to win. I also think its not the main priority. We have an Owner/GM entity in Jerry Jones. That, by it's very nature will, at times, create a conflict of interest. The GM wants to win, but the owner wants to make lots of money and draw attention to his franchise, even if it means causing distractions for his team. Furthermore, making more money tends to make losing a little easier to digest. A traditional GM will feel the pressure of fielding a winning team, he gets no satisfaction by improving the team's popularity or financial worth. Now, which do you think will win out?

If our players are distracted by commercials Jerry are in or go-go dancers at the stadium, we are doomed either way.

Serious question, did we have a GM when Jerry got his three super bowls. I'm only 25, I didn't really start following them til about 2000

Jimmy was the real GM, and Jerry hated it, that's the way the story has always been presented and as I remember, I apologize if I'm wrong though.

When I watched A Football Life about Jimmy, it really came off to me as he was going over the top to take credit for that, Like there was still a hatred for Jerry in him and he wanted all the credit.

I grew up a Cowboys fan and have big a huge fan my whole life. But lately I watch the games wishing we could be a trust worthy team again. No matter what type of lead we have it's not safe. We seem to let up when we are 10 points up and always find odd ways to lose. I want to believe but the team just let's me down over and over again. It used to be just the post season that this happened. Now it is during the season. One week the offense looks great and the next week they look awful. Then the D looks good and the next week they give up 600+ yards and the most ever to a WR. I am so close to not watching the games for the first time in 40 years. It just kills me each and every week. Sorry to vent but if a lifelong fan like me is at this point what about the young ones who never knew a winning Cowboy team. This is just pitiful and the owner needs to figure out how to change things or his valuable franchise will lose value.

they are the worst team in sports to be a fan of.

But wait, there's more! See my edit...

I would think Jerry the GM would feel pressure too. Isn't a winning team going to draw more money than a losing team? Not making the playoffs is taking money right out his own pockets.

Being loyal to Jason and this weak willed core of leaders tho, I somewhat agree with you

Actually, One would think so. But that is the position Jerry is in. The owner knows that the Cowboys will continue to be the most popular franchise in football (sales), and top 3 in all of sports, even during years of mediocre and losing seasons. This factor is more problematic because the GM knows it too. No pressure to field a quality team. The owner is making money and the GM can't be held accountable.

Then stop watching them or talking about them on the internet ...... or shut your mouth about it.
