Our scheme sucks.

What you and many others fail to realize is that our scheme is limited by Romo's inability to throw the ball half as much as he used to. If you've noticed, we've been leaning on the run more and more and this last week was a short one, so Romo didn't have enough time to recoup physically from the last game. We just kept running the ball until the score got away and then we got desperate and started passing again. It was almost as if the coaches were trying to hide Romo's physical ailments with the way we just kept trying to run the ball. I suspect he might look a little better tmrw against the Bears since he's had more time to rest and because their D is a shell of what it once was, but not much.

I would like to see more screens, dump offs to Dunbar in space, bring back the WR screens again, maybe implement more quick short passes to negate the blitz, and maybe see Romo throw the ball away more instead of going fetal. Romo still has the option to change the play so half of the blame lies with him. He needs to just throw it away sometimes...

I have no problem with the amounts of runs being called. I don't have any problems with the playcalling.

What I have a problem with is the play designs and how we rely solely on our guy to just go beat their guy. When it doesn't happen then we have nowhere else to go.

We do see the occasional bubble screen to Cole Beasley that he picked up for 30 yards against Philly, we did see Dez catch a drag against Jacksonville and take it to the house, and then we never see these plays hardly ever again.

Meanwhile you watch teams like Green Bay, New England, New Orleans, Denver, and other good offenses and they are just spamming these plays until someone proves they can stop it.

Dez is probably the best open field runner in the league @ WR. Why are we trying to get him the ball 15-25 yards down field?

It was the same with Miles Austin.

I just don't like relying on low percentage plays so much. Especially when our QB is getting pressured and we're all crossing our fingers that he can buy time until someone gets open. I'm sick of it.

I'll same thing I said to him Mr. Nailonhammer...

We've seen this for years.

The 8-4 is mostly because of our ability to run the ball and not rely so much on this crap passing attack that has more questions than it does answers.

Tell me when you have coached football Josh. What positions? What level? I will be impressed if you have even coached Pee Wee.

I don't think you know anything about it. It's really just that simple.

Would you mind posting your coaching resume?

You sure adopted your discipleship at DCU quickly weak rooster. Wasn't all that long ago that you were telling me what reprehensible idiots they are. You were right.

There are posters here who can back me up on this if they choose. I'd rather they wouldn't.

I have coached, scouted, and recruited at the HS and NCAA Division I levels. Not for very long. No one here has ever heard of me. I am still not important. You'd be wise to ignore me. I am not worth your time.

Having said this, I still pray for your son to win his fight.

How do we know Romo is just not choosing to go a diff direction? Or being stubborn?

I would think that you could provide tangible, verifiable proof of your coaching experience, especially since you demanded to know about another poster's experience. Something in black and white that can be found here on the vast interwebs.

Something tells me you will not, however.

I know there is nothing, and I mean NOTHING that I have seen anywhere that not only says you were a coach or scout of any sort, but I have yet to see your name listed on any BYU roster. Please point me in the right direction.

I know there are posters that can back me up when I tell them I was an an Olympic Gold Medal wrestler, but unfortunately there is no actual record of this. Just the information I have told them over the last 10 years

Good for you. I have no inclination to provide proof (I can) because of the people demanding it. It serves no purpose that will change anything. Like I said, I'm not that important.

I had to laugh at the idea of me demanding proof from Catch17. I thought I asked him if he had any coaching experience. I had no intention of challenging him on it, but see I don't think like you guys that everyone is a liar. I don't think he does based on how little he understands coaching concepts. If that's too hard for you guys to grasp it really isn't my fault.

This thread was sort-of about our offensive scheme at one point, right? Thought I'd put this here. It's a quote from the CHI DC, re: our offense.

“They’ve done a really nice job in terms of having balance,” said defensive coordinator Mel Tucker. “They’re going to call 30 runs and they’re going to call 30 passes. They’re extremely committed to running the football and they do an excellent job from a scheme standpoint.”

I never even sort of bought into the scheme criticisms, but I mostly just thought the timing of the quote was appropriate. Somebody tell Mel he spelled 'dog trash' wrong. :)

To be fair, have you ever heard of anyone not named Ryan who has called anyone's offense "dog trash" or anything of the sort?

Come to think of it, have you ever heard of Mel Tucker being anointed as some sort of defensive guru?

I take his comment for what it's worth... he's just being cordial.

I don't know how you get "Would you mind posting your coaching resume" equals a demand for your coaching credentials. You sir, were a bit more terse with your "Tell me when you have coached football Josh. What positions? What level? I will be impressed if you have even coached Pee Wee." Sounds like you called the man out. Even labeled him as no better than a football dummy. Why, because his opinion differs from yours?

By the way, if you did provide it, it would go a long way toward answering questions regarding your football acumen that you love to boast on here. It's really that simple, as you say. But hey, if you can't do it, say so.

It is what it is: an opposing DC specifically complimenting the scheme. Relevant in a thread that's critical of the schemes in particular. You can obviously discount the compliments and take the negatives to heart, or simply discount anything any coach says on a topic. A lot of posters probably won't agree with that, though. I typically discount the generic platitudes myself, but figure if a coach is calling out something or someone specific it's probably because he thinks that aspect or player is an actual highlight for some reason. But that's just me.

OK, fair point.

Let's take it a step further... as I said, can you find an instance of where a DC degrades the offense he's about to face this year? No.. because it doesn't happen unless it's a loudmouth like one of the Ryan brothers. So when you have nothing but sunshine coming from an opposing coordinator, it's hard to really give it any credibility other than he's trying not to stir the pot.

Please point me toward something, ANYTHING that lists you as a coach at any level, or player at BYU. Otherwise it did. not. happen. It's as simple as that. It's not my fault if you can't do it.

And before you claim I'm harassing you, this all came about because you questioned Catch17's background. Now yours is being questioned, and rightfully so. I'm simply asking you politely to prove what you claim.

I have no interest in proving it to you. None. Zero. Zip. Nada. I couldn't care less if you think it is a lie. Your opinion of me means less to me than you can fathom. You can think the world is flat for all I care. It does not make you right, because you are not.

The fact that they're willing to compliment what they find impressive, but unwilling to criticize what they intend to exploit isn't evidence that they're lying when they're being complimentary. Really, they probably compliment what's obvious from the tape, and then choose not to address anything specifically that's average or bad and something they want to target. Which is why you hear coaches saying nice things about big-time players or obvious team strengths and never otherwise giving away much bulletin board material.

Now, I wouldn't put it past a DC to compliment a guy and then to go after him in the games, but we're talking about schemes here. Plus, if you saw his face on the sideline tonight, he looked pretty impressed in that third quarter by the truck that had just run over him.

Of course not. I fully expected that exact reply. In fact, I predicted it.

And I predicted you would attempt to sway me into providing you proof. We're both prophetic. Whoop dee freaking doo.

Put me on Ignore. You're life would be better.
