But I smell the end of uninspired efforts by the 'Boys this season.

I think the NY game, and the ensuing 1st half of the Carolina game were the final pieces of the emotional puzzle needed for the Cowboys to move forward to becomning the team that they can be.

I saw a Defense on Sunday that played very well out of the lockerroom in the 3rd Qtr on Defense and then made the game winning play instead of folding in the final minutes. I saw a team take it upon THEMSELVES (finally) to win a football game it needed to win against a desperate opponent.

I saw a QB lead a team and play with great confidence and judgement.

I by no means think we will go unbeaten the rest of the season and I'm still not sure on this point, BUT I saw a Head Coach quietly dress down his Off Coordinator for two terrible playcalls on the goalline and with good reason. The same head coach punted the football when it was the better choice to punt the football for once. Basically I saw an excellent Defensive Coordinator POSSIBLY become a good Head Coach as well.

I saw an excellent special teams unit that had the Panthers frustrated with their ineffectiveness.

I saw some key veterans play inspired football, and some youthful players take advantage of opportunities when they arose. I saw a running game that is three deep, and completely three dimensional bolstered by a nasty, hungry offensive line.

I think that Wade might now have the respect in the lockerroom to get his message to the players. He has not panicked in the face of adversity, and I don't think that his team will either going forward.

I smell something cooking in Dallas... and it might take some time to come to boil... but it might be pretty tasty when all is said and done. The end of uninspired play. With the talent on this club... how neat would that be?

That is all.:star:

let's hope this mirrors the 07 Giants.

They turned their season around on a goal line stand in their third game and carried that momentum to a SB win.

Maybe we turned ours around in the 2nd half of our 3rd game too..

won't believe till I see for a couple of games in a row and at least a few wins in December. To me this team will never become disciplined under Wade Phillips.

I'd like to know what was said, and by who, in that locker room. What ever went on in there sure did seem to put to rest one Cowboys team and resurrect another. It was very encouraging to see them come out the second half a new team. I hope it carries forward the rest of the season.

Your post is very motivational. I like your attitude :)

I wouldn't be surprised if you're right.

And it wouldn't be an accident, either. We tried very hard this offseason to reduce the circus and look-at-me atmosphere and make everything more team-oriented. Fewer big plays, more controlling the line of scrimmage. Less sizzle, more steak.

Plus, I like how we have some young talent possibly showing up. Buehler's made an impact and of course Butler did at the end. Jason Williams and Mike Hamlin will be showing up soon. I think that will have to help us later in the year.

When is the last time we made a big play to win the game like that at the end, especially on defense? Maybe last year when we sacked McNabb at our place? I dunno, this pick six was even a lot more dramatic than that. If that can happen a time or two more, our guys will really start to believe. And then anything can happen.

Call me in December and January....

What I see is a QB that is determined, and a team that can run the ball at will. Both will bode well in December and January. If the defense gels, the sky is the limit for this team.

Again I say... Call me in December and January, I hope all this is still true then.

Cowboys can't win.

Win now and it's who cares, talk to me in December. Lose now and we suck.

IF that's the case it's because they've brought it on themselves with their history over the last decade - with the exclamation points added the last two years. Can't say I blame people for wanting to see the team prove itself in crunchtime at the end of the year.

Yup .... I like how the team seems to be coming together.

We will know more by week 6.

Good Post!
Nice to read some good positive perspectives for once. And rather if any fan, or even the most negative fan [yes we know they are out there] has to at least agree somewhat in your post. Even if it's only wishful thinking on their part.

I myself can see this as a leaping point into more confidence by the entire team and coaches. But they [he players] will say they have a lot of work to do, and a long road to travel. Which is true. But it has to start somewhere. And it did in that 2nd half Monday night.

but why then do losses now mean something?

the more I think about it, the more it REALLY bugs me that Dallas couldn't beat the Giants... FOUR turnovers and they lose by 2 in the final seconds. It makes me realize that they played pretty darn well...not well enough to overcome four turnovers, but still..pretty darn close AND they can take from that loss the knowledge that they can win despite a couple of mistakes.

All games mean something, never said they didn't. Wins now mean something to get you into position for the end of the year. And losses mean something because they inhibit you from getting in position for the playoffs.

But just winning big in Sept - Nov and then limping down the stretch and going one and done in the playoffs, if you even make the playoffs is what the problem has been. Have you missed the last few years?

Defition of moral victory.

We can beat the Giants. They don't do much for me.

You know that commercial featuring the new cooler/grill (Bud Light commercial I think)... The Grooler? The dude doing the spoof infomercial picks up the hot dog off the grill and puts it to his ear -

"Ring. Ring. Ring. It's the future!" :p:
