I need to go fishing

I love to fish. But, one thing I never understood about fishing.

If it's supposed to be relaxing, why do I get so pissed off?
Wow I hear that, it doesn't always work out the way you planned, last time I was fishing a goose took my pole, got tangled in it, tried to cut my line I just didn't have enough time. I reported it to F&G, did not want that bird to get hurt for no good reason....but I miss my pole, costy Shakespeare.

Ice fishing is a great past time. Just need a shack and booze. Caught a lot of nice fat Pickerel through the ice!
I'm going to work on that, I love fishing, it's like my escape. I remember that movie Grumpy Old Men, since I saw that I've been interested in ice fishing, I always wanted a shack. I guess my first time might have thrown me off, but there are not more things than I love than privacy catching fish, and a full flask.

I have a small boat on a lake by our summer cabin.
Me and my sons fish there a lot during the summer.
We catch mostly Bass & Sunnys.

Well, not much luck today. Caught one Bonito and no halibut but did catch a pretty good buzz

Saw two gray whales and many dolphins though

That's pretty cool, and some of the bigger fighters out there pound for pound. Keep it up man, those memories last forever, even when you come up empty, not even a bite...just spending that time is priceless.

I normally fish in the bay on South Padre Island, catch a few trout and park the boat at one of the many restaurants, they will clean and cook your fish anyway you like and serve it will all the fixings.
My teenage daughter caught her first fish last year, a 43 inch Black Drum. I'll never forget the look on her face. It was oversized, released it.
That's awesome, congrats to your daughter, one heck of a first catch. And that sounds amazing they cook your catch for ya? I love that.

It's the same thing with golf, it's suppose to be relaxing but nothing can cause more rage. It even makes Tiger Woods curse.

So I did a little digging, one of my friends has a shack, knows what he's doing, I trust him, so I'm going ice fishing. Lot of Perch that need to be eaten, not going for a few days. I need a break. But I'm excited!

Large and smallmouth bass fisher here.

Yellow perch are awesome. Second best eating fresh water fish as far as I'm concerned. Do you have walleye out that way? They are the my favorite. Just like perch, maybe a bit sweeter. Bigger fillets.

I remember walking home to my grandmother's after school and as I got close seeing a big pail sitting on the back porch that a family friend would drop off every so often. First thought, "yahoo, fish fry!", second thought, "oh no, I've got to clean all those fish!"

There are supposedly some walleye in some of the places I fish, never had the good fortune to catch one though. I can totally hear hear ya on the whole getting so excited and then that second thought when you realize the work is not over. That's an awesome story, thanks for sharing it. :)

Bass fishing is fantastic...good fighters and good tablefare!
When I go catfishing, I bring my second rod because the Snake River has quite a few Smallmouth hanging around. Darn good eating. I'll never forget, it was at a lake and I tried to cast and I had my line tangled, landed maybe 3 feet out, thought "shoot I just snagged again", nope. As soon as that bait hit the water, a Largmouth hit it, just that fast. Gotta love bass.

I fished the Snake a few years back on a 5 day rafting trip through Hell's Canyon. I've also fished the middle fork of the Salmon, the Boise River, and the Payette up by McCall. My brother in law is a pilot for the forestry service in Boise and a part time river guide. We head up there every summer and spend a week rafting and fishing secret little areas that he's found while flying. Next to Texas, Idaho is my favorite place in the world.
