I noticed something

My take on this game is it was an important win to stop the bleeding. Lose this and the flames would have ignited on our season burning down.

An ugly win is just another take because our offense still showed signs of struggling. While our defense provided signs of its early success.

We overcame the adversities which the Pandemic continues to provide while facing a team with their own adversities with mounting injuries and no QB.

An ugly win is just one term. And I can see that perspective. But the bottomline in this league is all games can be tough. This was an important win. And sets us up now to basically lock up our division next week instead of providing an opportunity for a total collapse.

As we get everyone back healthy we could return to our early form this year assuming we can keep our key stars out of Pandemic protocol . Just imagine losing our QB or any others for the playoffs as a result. And why this season is so unpredictable of what could happen due to our worlds current situation which could explode again in coming weeks.

The scary thing to me is a team can have a good defense and a mediocre offense and can and may beat us. I am not sure we beat the Saints if they don’t gift us 4 interceptions. It may have looked more like the Raiders game. We weren’t really doing a good job of stopping them. Doesn’t bode well for the playoffs where teams rarely beat themselves.

For sure. While we have players returning soon, the Saints were without Kamara and other key components.

If the Cowboys win by 10 it is either a struggle or an ugly win. If they lose by 10 it is a blow out.
not sure i follow, you mean fan reactions?

how about lose by 3 in OT on a defensive penalty and fans act as if 36-33 was offensive issues and a terrible loss..they haven't looked at the Passer ranking and see Carr in the top 5 either..fans sometimes underrate our opponents just to critique our losses as devastating and shouldn't have happened..

2 of our losses are to the SB matchup teams in their stadiums ie on the road by a combined 12 points. the Denver loss was horrible but Dak doesn't seem healed from that calf or what ever it is they didn't disclose, he wont run wont set his feet, wasn't good and the defense had their worst game..and the raiders who are far better team in far better division then they are being given credit for we lost by 3 in ot....

so one bad loss really and only surprise loss. denver that it..we battled in all the other games and kept it close..

so what now we critique the wins now as if they are ,losses!?

they are all one offs week to week league if you haven't noticed GB,TB, and Rams(3) all had losing streaks and oir records are close to the top teams.. dont look back or forward just be prepared to that weeks game and expectations need to be taken out of it..

that not good enough now to be 8-4 and leading the division by 2.5 games

did we forget how bad 8-8 and 6-10 felt ?

That is 1000 doom and gloom posts from you. This is a good example of what we are talking about. The Cowboys got massacred by the Chiefs and almost outplayed by the Saints. They were both 10 point games. Thank you for posting. Hard to believe that somebody would spend the time and effort to spread the nonsense that you bring here.

This is the same poster who had the Eagles easily running away with the division for the remainder of the year and said that the Cowboys are going to lose to the Saints outright and be 7-5, so he just had to adjust his Doom and Gloom predictions, once the Eagles lost to the Giants and the Cowboys beat the Saints. In no way would he give the Cowboys credit for "almost outplaying" another team. Because any loss the Cowboys had would just have the doom and gloom fans predicting that the season is over with and that the Eagles, WFT, or Giants were going to win the division.

The only nonsense being spread here is believing this team is a currently a contender. The Cowboys team that beat the Patriots and any game before that? Yeah, they were contenders. This team that has no identity and is struggling offensively despite having everyone back is NOT a SuperBowl contender. That’s not doom and gloom that’s REALITY. Look at the Cardinals, Packers, and even the Bucs right now and tell me you think the team that just scraped by the damaged and torn sacrilegious Saints can beat those teams at full strength come playoff time in THEIR house? Because I don’t see it. I see you thanked me for posted, regardless whether is was sarcastic or not, I say you’re welcome because it appears to be needed.

The same Bucs who lost to the Saints, with Trevor Siemian as the QB? Under this exact same circumstances you would be saying that the Cowboys aren't contenders due to losing to the Saints. But still say that the Bucs are strong contenders, even after they lost to a QB who got benched for Taysom Hill. Taysom Hill seemed intimidating enough for you that you had the Cowboys immediately losing to the Saints, despite knowing the fact beforehand the Saints were "damaged and torn." And still believed those damaged and torn Saints were going to beat the Cowboys outright and send Dallas to 7-5.

Now that the Cowboys beat the Saints, you are moving the goalposts and are still saying the Cowboys aren't contenders, because they didn't put up 40 points on or blow out a team, that you and other negative Cowboys fans had the team losing to outright. You're just negative about the Cowboys, but at the same time still praise other teams, who have been in similar situations or have lost games in similar fashion that the Cowboys have this season.

In the same way you were praising the Bills as real contenders, until it was pointed out to you that the Bills have yet to beat a team with a winning record. You hold the Cowboys and other teams to different standards. When most of the team's you listed have had bad games or questionable losses. Including the Packers, who lost to a team in which the Cowboys beat with a backup QB.

Your Packers and Bucs lost to the Saints.

The Packers also lost to the Vikings, a team the Cowboys beat with a back up QB. But @AmariChill chooses to disregard this, along with disregarding the fact that every team that he has picked as "real contenders" or teams who he believes has a better chance at being successful in the playoffs, have all had games were they lost to underdogs, have had ugly wins, or have all had bad games or questionable losses.

I have never experienced a fan group, being so misreable and unhappy after an 11 point win....our expectations as fans are to blow out every team and dominate, else we suck and they hate the players, specially Dak.
people don't understand, that the saints game is pretty much a typical NFL game.....

They actually lead the league in points scored.
garbage points some say...one poster actually said, Dak scored 13 points because Pollard run was all pollard and he wants to separate it from rest of our scoring....pretty creative...but stupid nevertheless

Good teams win ugly games against banged up opponents.

Good teams win ugly games when they’re banged up and things aren’t going their way. Good teams that are Super Bowl contenders don’t win ugly games against banged up mediocre teams that are missing key players. Good teams beat up those teams. Thursday nights game looked like a couple of mediocre teams that were desperate for a win.

That guy is either a troll or has mental health issues. Probably both.

Yeah you're right. That 92 squad that barely beat an injury riddled Denver was just an above average team.

This Cowboys team doesn’t even come close to comparing with the 92 Cowboys. This Cowboys team has already lost more games than the 92 Cowboys. Every great team is going to have some tough games during the season. Troy Aikman actually played very well against Denver tossing three TD passes. The Cowboys are struggling right now, especially offensively. I was never concerned about the 92 Cowboys when December arrived. I’m very concerned about the current team, they’re leaking oil.

Every team has games they win ugly against a wounded opponent. I don't know of any Tampa Bay fans saying the W against the Cowboys was tarnished due to Martin being out, Greg Z missing a FG and extra point and blown call by the refs. I don't know of any Denver fans saying the W against the Cowboys was weak cuz we were missing a large chunk of our defense and our offense didn't have MG or Collins. I don't recall any Chiefs or Raiders fans downplaying the W against us because we didn't have Cooper or DLaw and RG and Zeke is wounded.

But we win half our fan base is making excuses for the other team and not giving us any respect. Does beating the wounded Saints make us a SB bound team? No, absolutely not. But good teams beat teams they're supposed to beat. We beat a team that we were supposed to beat but many on this board are saying since we didn't blow them out then we shouldn't be happy with the win. I'm going to be happy with the win.

As of this writing and how they played on Thursday I feel if we don't improve we will not go far in the playoffs. But we're getting healthy at the right time and if we gell on offense and defense then we can make a run at this thing. But we got a lot to clean up, but it's possible. I'm focusing on the win and the positive and if others want to be negative then have fun being negative. We have the talent to make a run regardless of winning ugly on Thursday. JMHO, if you disagree I respect your point of view too.

Every team has players out, that’s life the NFL. Denver had a bunch of players out when they pounded us. They played terrific despite being depleted. They had players step up. The Cowboys always have talent but it underachieves. Seldom do they have players step up. If we lose one key player on offense or defense it usually affects the entire unit. Fortunately Cooper Rush stepped up against Minnesota earlier in the season. The 07 Cowboys had a very explosive offense and that team began to fade in week 13. Once the offense started to regress the team could never get back on track. It’s very difficult to turn things around in December. This hasn’t been the same Cowboys team since the loss to Denver. Our offensive struggles began in that game. We had championship contender written all over us until that debacle.

The team still has 5 games to get back on track. Maybe Amari getting a full game of reps and the return of Gregory and Neville Gallimore will improve the situation. If the 10 days off and the return of those players don’t get the team back to playing at a high level and lead to a win in Washington we’re in trouble! We’ve only seen once in the past four games where the Cowboys looked like a solid, efficient football team that could go deep in the playoffs. The other three games they’ve looked like a team that’s either going to miss the playoffs or go one and done.
