Thanks for enlightening the blind!!!!Yakuza Rich;2594463 said:I followed the case pretty close, mainly because I had just moved to Atlanta and had passed the bar (Cobalt Lounge) about 10 minutes before it happened.
Ray Lewis wasn't convicted because his friends changed their story. He wasn't convicted because the prosecution should have never tried him in the first place because they didn't have a case. In fact, Ray turned state's evidence against his friends, but they still didn't get prosecuted.
The prosecution's evidence against Lewis mainly consisted of an ex-con who later recanted his story and said he wasn't even there and the limo driver who said he thought he heard Lewis say "I'm not going down for this" to other members of his crew in the back of the limo.
You don't bargain to that extent with people accused of double homicide unless you don't have a case. And being there in Atlanta, there was a lot of pressure for the prosecutors to go after Lewis because of racial tensions in Buckhead at the time.
I've felt this way about Lewis for a long time. It's not as bad as the Duke Lacrosse case, but it wasn't too far off.
YAKUZA
There is that to consider also. Some people can't be bought. He's going to get paid anyway and he may consider an extra million or so as unequal compensation for also providing the type of leadership some players desperately need.Rampage;2594529 said:Ray Lewis doesn't want to come to the mess Jerry has created.

I know he wasn't actually convicted, but it was a situation where the witnesses (Ray's friends) eventually changed their stories after they realized their millionaire friend (who had taken them for the ride with him) might end up behind bars.
I am convinced Ray was responsible for the stabbing deaths of those two men, as evidenced by his undisclosed payouts to the victim's families. As Cowboy fans, we can agree that any player that has ever attacked someone with a sharp object has no place on America's Team!
We are the classiest organization in the NFL with unquestionably the classiest, most knowledgeable, and non-bandwagon fans. Join me in getting the message loud and clear to Jerry: WE HAVE NO PLACE FOR CRIMINALS ON THE DALLAS COWBOYS!
Say no to Ray Ray! 5 Time Super Bowl Champs! How Bout Dem Cowboys! WHOOOOOO!

Cowboys2008;2595367 said:Yea, yea you do. The military, by example, has been doing this since the beginning of time through promotions and reassignments. Do you think one General or Drill Sergeant is less successful with whichever group of soldiers they're leading at the moment? For the most part, they're actually quite consistent. As are most of life's leaders, regardless of where or what they're doing.

Jerry just hasn't signed one yet or brought in a coach who has those qualities.
Too many "lead by examples" on this team and no one with any nads.
Doomsday101;2595396 said:so for 1 year we are talking a guy who is entering his 14 year is going to come and everyone is going to just follow along? If Lewis was a younger player who could be with us for a while then yes he could establish himself with his teammates and take on that role he did in Balt but it does not happen overnight. You can't talk a good game and show liabilities on the football field and expect everyone to just accept he is the leader because of his past. This the same crap that was being spewed when we signed Zack Thomas “Oh he is going to come in and be the leader” It does not work that way.
Like TO, Pacman, Sank Johnson etc.EmmitMichaelTroy;2594310 said:The Cowboys are an organization that has been built on excellence and classy players since day one.

I for one wasnt spewing that propoganda. Thomas was never a vocal guy. He always played hard and was respected. When he DID talk people listened because he was a proven veteran. If ANYONE thought Zach was going to come in and be like that then they are/were incompetent.
While I am weary of Ray Lewis and his age, a presence like him is needed. This team is getting older and their window is closing. By resigning TO and giving FLO/BIGG contracts, he is trying to win now.
And if he needs to rent some key players for a run, now is the time to do it.
Thats not saying overlooking guys in the draft or getting some players like play with intensity not soft backups who either twitch all game or brush their locks.
