I really wanted a safety at 58

We all did. But once again, we are all armchair scouts and coaches.

This coaching staff is content with Woods, Heath, Iloka and Frazier. We just have to hope it’s for the best

I am bothered by the pick because this smells like Taco 2.0.

Where they see a talented kid that has maturity issues and Marinelli just assumes he will fix him.
The level of familiarity with Hill makes a ton of difference. There is no assumption. The Cowboys know what they are getting.

Hopefully this pet project works out much better.
Taco’s weakness was his twitch and gett off (among other things). That hurts a DL IMO. His strength was size and length. I worries because he lacked suddenness.

Hill comes off the ball like he’s shot out of a cannon. His physical strengths fit this defense like a glove and are what I, personally, love to see from a DL... particularly a 3 tech for Marinelli.

My concerns for Taco are nothing like my concerns for Hill. I have zero physical concerns with Hill.

Agreed. He needs good coaching and him and Rod have become super close during the process.

Rod even has his own personal checklist making sure Hill works hard everyday.

If anybody gets the most out of Hill, it's Rod

Agreed I think the kid has raw talent and athleticism but didn't have the production in college and barely played in his final year. Passing on a safety there was bad not because of the player but the position and how we use them. Even if the kid is good he will play only 50% of the snaps. A safety makes a more immediate and profound impact on the game when they are playing 90% of the snaps. What I can get behind is this draft screams 2020 and garrett doesn't have a contract after this season.

What makes you say Rod can get the most out of guys. When since he's been here we've had 3 separate starting d lineman suspended. Lost one to drug use and one didn't want to play anymore. both starters who severely underachieved. What about the legend of ty craw that never came to fruition. Please this Rod crap makes me want to throw up. 0-16 coach that needs to be escorted out of the league.

I'm not saying Rod can get the most out of all guys.

I'm saying if anybody can get anything from Hill, it's Rod.

What makes you say that? He hasn't proven he could get anything from anyone in the past lol.

Check out their bond.

Rod and Hill have had multiple dinners, kept in constant contact and was the exact reason we reached a little on him. He was going to be the pick ever since March

Like I said I would rather you make the decision than old bum scheme coach marinelli.

But the only other position we’ve always clamored for is a big ol DT. And we got one. It stings because of the specific safeties that were there, especially guys we didn’t believe would be available but I’m warming up.

100% how I feel. I would’ve taken any of those 3 safeties but DT was our next biggest need and Maliek only has 1 year left on his deal and is too injury prone to re-sign

He didn’t “barely play” in his last season... he played a lot, he just wasn’t the starter at the beginning of the games. They used him a lot.

I understand your point about the percentage of snaps he might play in Dallas vs. a SS, but a 3T that provides a push in the middle will, IMO, impact the game a lot more than a SS will. And a safety rookie would likely split snaps anyway.

I just have wanted a sudden 3T for years and I’m thrilled to finally get one.

This is one of those trust the coaches situations and if the D coaches were on DT over S, s'ok by me.

They can still address S today but I do wonder of they feel there's anyone better than what they have. They, evidently, do not share the Heath hate many here have. I would like to see them come away with a coupla DB's along with a RB and another DL.

Safety isn't even as big a need as corner is IMO. In fact I would take another DEnd before safety. But I was going for an OT at 58.

Not sure how S is less of a need than CB.

People seriously overrate our safeties. It’s weird.
