We all see Jerry and company trying to make room for spot that could be upgraded and trying to make this team better.

We have our core of players. So now it's time to upgrade at spots where guys can't play two positions.

Depth in the middle is looking a little soft. I saw Hoffman literally come off his feet at LG. I'm thinking that's probably not going to work. And I don't think don't think the Cowboys ever found that trade partner for Dorance Armstrong. So we're pretty much set, as much as it sucks to lose land. Losing one of our starter there could have been more costly.

Make no mistake. This Noah Igbinoghene guy gives us a player who can fill in on the outside very well. Remember, he may not be competing for a starting spot here. He'll be in there on certain special teams, and I wanted Joseph to succeed. But Noah iggy looks like a pretty darn good returner. If Turpin goes down, who can return? Cropper maybe. I think you want to keep Vaughn's touches behind the offense, and limit them on special teams. Let him ease into that role, as time goes on. Then, maybe he takes over. Players are going to take shots at Vaughn. We have to remember that.

I expect them to sign two more offensive lineman. And likely a running back in the very near future. I don't think we're quite done yet. We're just whittling down the roster. Bottom of the roster players are still in tryout mode.

They get a two game time out for Jones before they need to make a decision on him. Another running back seems questionable. I could be wrong.

But linebacker could use a little depth.
Hahaha. Offensive line, linebacker and MAYBE RB. We'll see how it goes. I expect Jason Peters to jump on board soon. He was a such a class act and so solid, it's hard to resist. I actually feel fine with Deuce at RB. Then again, I know how many carries he got at Kansas. He's a stud.

Interesting choice of words in the thread header. We can go a number of ways with smelling splashes and they would fit in the player acquisition context including off-loading in the bathroom.

Igbinoghene give us a fast corner who is tall and without the off field stuff Kelvin Joseph gave us.

I'd feel much better with a quality vet G/T. The young guys may pan out, but hate to be reliant on an UDFA rookie when you have a win now team. I am not as worried about LB only because they play so much 4-2 fronts with Kearse as the hybrid LB/SS.

And with more attention given to 1T position to keep LB/S cleaner

Yawn.................

Interesting takes and good ones.

Based on practice yesterday, Bass is probably going to be the backup center once he gets it down. Did very well in practicing for it. Hoffman probably elevated from the PS at least the 1st 3 games to get time for Bass to become accustomed to the backup center spot. Remember, he was the only OL guy to only play a single position i.e. OG but has the talent to be more. The OL will be interesting to watch especially if Tyron Smith goes down with an injury. Best bet is Tyler Smith kicks out to LT and Bass plays LG or they try Richards at LT first to see if he can hold up.

The RB position is fluid at least to me. Pollard will be the main guy but betting Dowdle and Vaughan get more touches than many think. I wouldn't be surprised to see Dallas make a trade at RB for someone like James Conner out of Arizona for the right price. He has 2 years left on his contract at a reasonable price and would be a good tandem with Pollard. If it happens, then I would expect it in the next 3 weeks.

LB position does worry me with how light we are there. After the 1st game when veterans can be signed without guaranteeing the whole year salary, I could see Dallas possibly signing Deion Jones who was released. Maybe Quinn could work his magic with him again. Just seems like the most likely guy to sign, at least to the PS.

Probably most interesting things to watch is can the front office get Lamb and Steele extended in these 1st couple of weeks. Then the question will be will they extend Dak for 3 years or more. To those who think that they will move on from him after this year, might think again because if they did then it is a $62 million cap hit for 2024 and even after June 1st still a $30 million cap hit in 2024 and $32 million in 2025 so most likely extend him 3 to 5 years if you expect Lance to be the guy. Best bet is to coach up Lance to become a valuable trade piece. Remember Parsons is likely to get a new contract that averages around $40 million a year. Cap space estimated to be $252 million in 2024 and $284 million in 2025 and $312 million in 2026. Big numbers.

I wouldn't put it past Dallas to make some moved in regard to depth, just don't expect anything big. I'd fall off my chair if I saw that happen.

Remember, the Cowboys build through the draft and fill holes with bargain bin free agents. Make very few trades, are not active in the first two days of the draft, and stay out of big money free agency. Jerry has been a little more active this year, but not by much. What's really improved this team is getting lucky in the draft, and some free agents have turned up roses. If Dallas doesn't hit on a few of these players, we're not even competing for a championship this year.

I would love to sign Peters for another season.
I’m sure they have been in touch. He is local if I’m not mistaken and each party is probably interested in repeating last seasons arrangement if the situation calls for it.

But linebacker could use a little depth.
They have 6 running backs.

Did out-of-shape Peters ever get in shape last year? Or are we going to bring him in for more coaching?
