I Smell a Couple More Splashes

I don't think you'll see any splash moves unless there's an oppprtunity at the trade deadline for a position of need.

Otherwise I think Oline or LB is a posibility to add a veteran for depth. The Cowboys have a history of adding experienced LBs beyond their prime years. Anthony Barr, Keith Brooking, Zach Thomas all come to mind. So I wouldnt be surprised if Deion Jones, Anthony Barr, Rashaan Evans, Kyle Van Noy type brought in.

I wouldn't put it past Dallas to make some moved in regard to depth, just don't expect anything big. I'd fall off my chair if I saw that happen.

Remember, the Cowboys build through the draft and fill holes with bargain bin free agents. Make very few trades, are not active in the first two days of the draft, and stay out of big money free agency. Jerry has been a little more active this year, but not by much. What's really improved this team is getting lucky in the draft, and some free agents have turned up roses. If Dallas doesn't hit on a few of these players, we're not even competing for a championship this year.
Hankins, Gilmore, Cooks, Lance. Feels like you’re operating on old assumptions

Hahaha. Offensive line, linebacker and MAYBE RB. We'll see how it goes. I expect Jason Peters to jump on board soon. He was a such a class act and so solid, it's hard to resist. I actually feel fine with Deuce at RB. Then again, I know how many carries he got at Kansas. He's a stud.
Peters is a leader, not just on offense. He was often on the sidelines hyping and cheering on defensive guys as well. He's just an all around great guy to have on the squad.

With opening day 10 days away I don’t see any more trades. We’re already missing our 4th and 5th round picks for next year. If we make another trade it will be during the season when we realize we have a problem.

They have 6 running backs.
How confusing is my comment that another running back is questionable? I was responding to the OP and suggesting his notion they need another running back, especially with this Jones guy on time out, doesn't make sense.

I just don't see much out there. I think this is pretty much it. Peters being added at some point is possible.

If they are anything like the last two trades I think I’ll pass

Who is being taken off the 53 to make room?
I don't know. I see weak spots at back up OL and we have three unproven RBs. So we shall see. I could be wrong. I can see how they roll w this group.

The good news is . . . this roster is as strong as it's ever been. Looks like a SB contender to me.

I like the idea of adding but man very difficult on who to drop for them. Roster is very strong

I think at the end of last year, we would be very happy to have this roster. Sure, they didn't swing for the fences in the draft.

But they didn't have to. They just filled in needs nicely. We had Pollard and so we could take a chance on guys like Overshown and Deuce.

I am. I described the better part of the last decade. Recently he's made some more moves. I guess he's figured out that doing near to nothing hasn't worked out very well.

We all see Jerry and company trying to make room for spot that could be upgraded and trying to make this team better.

We have our core of players. So now it's time to upgrade at spots where guys can't play two positions.

Depth in the middle is looking a little soft. I saw Hoffman literally come off his feet at LG. I'm thinking that's probably not going to work. And I don't think don't think the Cowboys ever found that trade partner for Dorance Armstrong. So we're pretty much set, as much as it sucks to lose land. Losing one of our starter there could have been more costly.

Make no mistake. This Noah Igbinoghene guy gives us a player who can fill in on the outside very well. Remember, he may not be competing for a starting spot here. He'll be in there on certain special teams, and I wanted Joseph to succeed. But Noah iggy looks like a pretty darn good returner. If Turpin goes down, who can return? Cropper maybe. I think you want to keep Vaughn's touches behind the offense, and limit them on special teams. Let him ease into that role, as time goes on. Then, maybe he takes over. Players are going to take shots at Vaughn. We have to remember that.

I expect them to sign two more offensive lineman. And likely a running back in the very near future. I don't think we're quite done yet. We're just whittling down the roster. Bottom of the roster players are still in tryout mode.
Good stuff.

He’s over 40 but still could play a few games if disaster strikes.
