he was better than that and MUCH better than Guyton wasYes even Tyron Smith was only meh his first year when he played RT before being switched the next year to LT back in the day. Got to give him time before writing him off
Think more that if put Hernandez at LG and move Tyler Smith to LT and then have Guyton play RT. You have a better line up by cutting Steel. However it seems that Steel is being acknowledged as a leader there so I doubt anyone is added considering the costI know he plays Right Guard and Tyler Booker was just drafted. He’s coming off a knee injury but looking at his IG he’s walking around fine. He adds to the nastiness of the OL . And I’m in favor of the top 5 starting even if you gotta move guys around (Guyton) or to the bench (Steele) . Plus his OLine coach at Arizona is our new OC.
Yeah very true with that right side. They are probably thinking the same….but they are also probably thinking they are set at guard. Bass/Hoffman/Richards are capable backups but ideally none of them have to start.I love the left side to center but that’s an awfully shaky right side.
I’m a big Hoffman fan, but he’s too inconsistent for me to plug him in at right guard. And I think his struggles would affect Steele as well. Steele seems to need stability lined up next to him.
Guard is arguably the deepest position on the team.
If they are gonna spend more money, do it at DT.
What owneror GM would say they made a mistake on their 1st round draft pick after just one season?Jethro would rather see Dak in traction then admit he made a mistake on Guyton
The QB is going to need a Mark Zuckerberg Hawaii estate style wall to protect him - get as much beef to keep that over hyped spare upright.Sounds crazy since they have about 15 guards on the roster BUT I wouldn't be against it as I believe plan B for Guyton is to move Tyler Smith out to LT. Having Hernandez and Booker at guard in that situation sounds better than any current combo.
You want to put a guard at RT or LT?I know he plays Right Guard and Tyler Booker was just drafted. He’s coming off a knee injury but looking at his IG he’s walking around fine. Obviously I’m guessing, but he probably wants like 6-8 million as lower end starter money, and teams… as of now, are probably willing to go 2-3 as vet backup money. It's currently May 12 and Will Hernandez is still unsigned.
Unless 32 NFL front offices have no clue, I can't see how he would be an upgrade over what Dallas can already choose from at guard.
I think your salary numbers are off.Obviously I’m guessing, but he probably wants like 6-8 million as lower end starter money, and teams… as of now, are probably willing to go 2-3 as vet backup money.
Probably wants to wait it out until a contender loses a starting guard and then maybe meet in the middle or he gets his money.
Big guy vets probably don’t mind missing a little camp either.
Plausible.
Difficult for Dallas to promise him much of anything now since he is guard only, and the current starters are Smith and Booker.
Hence the term guessing lol. I should have passed on offering numbers, but my actual point was about him likely wanting more than teams are willing to pay and he is willing to wait and gamble. Teams aren’t passing because he can’t play anymore, just wants more than they are willing to pay at this point.I think your salary numbers are off.
Will Hernandez, an offensive lineman for the Arizona Cardinals, has a current contract with a two-year, $9 million value. The contract includes a signing bonus of $2.5 million and a fully guaranteed salary of $2 million in 2023. Hernandez is also projected to have a market value of around $4.3 million per year on a new contract, according to Spotrac.
He didn’t approach that amount of money when he was younger and healthier.
I’m wondering if he’s not quite 100% healthy and teams are waiting until he is.Hence the term guessing lol. I should have passed on offering numbers, but my actual point was about him likely wanting more than teams are willing to pay and he is willing to wait and gamble. Teams aren’t passing because he can’t play anymore, just wants more than they are willing to pay at this point.
Well we all have to wonder this is guys nut Nick Chubb and others that sit out there and everyone scratching their head it's not uncommon for some of these veterans to not come in until after camp some of it by choice some of them don't want to go through camp but teams are right now trying to learn what they got from the draft and tree agency and then they'll get a better idea here in the coming month of what they actually need and if they need it then they go to that leftover free agent pool of players out there which there's quite a few that are still worthy of picking up....I’m wondering if he’s not quite 100% healthy and teams are waiting until he is.
Guard Will Hernandez is among the NFL's most underrated offensive linemen: Since joining the Cardinals in 2022, Hernandez owns a 76.0 PFF pass-blocking grade, which ranks ninth among guards, and has allowed pressure on 4.2% of pass plays (17th).Hernandez is not considered one of the better OGs. That’s why he’s still out there. I doubt we are even considering him. If we are looking at anything, it’s probably DT or MLB.
Maybe. One side is waiting and has their reasons. I’m sure he has offers that he doesn’t like.I’m wondering if he’s not quite 100% healthy and teams are waiting until he is.
