I suspect they will load up on offensive skill talent this offseason

When you try and build around Dak your margin for error is too small.

You have to hit perfectly on things and the Joneses can't do that.

The best solution is zero "win now" moves and start building towards a new QB.

The Cowboys are going to do exactly what they've been doing. They made it to the divisional round without having to do any work as GMs. Why would they change anything? They'll dip their pinky toes in free agency once the market has cooled, pick a need in the first round, take an injured project or head case in the second, and then have an otherwise whelming draft. The Cowboys will be in the division race the entire season and remain relevant and in the news cycle. Rinse. Repeat.

Gallup isn't even a #3 on a good team....I can't believe I'm about to say this, but he is less effective than Brown. There, I said it.:facepalm::facepalm:
Gallup will be fine. He's a good #2. The issue is the FO that relied on him so soon after his catastrophic injury. He'll be a better player next season. The Cowboys still need more speed, talent, and versatility at the position though.

You KNOW they will not sign any expensive FA's; dumpster diving as usual.
You KNOW they will reach for the 2nd rd pick
YOU KNOW they will sign our own to over sized contracts because WE LIKE OUR GUYS
1) That's probably accurate, their cap situation is not good.
2) We need to let this 2nd round pick myth die already. The Cowboys have been pretty good in the 2nd round the last decade or so.
3) You can either overpay for your own guys, or overpay for other teams guys, pick your poison.

Agreed, Gallups injury was way worse than the public was initially told when he signed his deal. It's more than fair to see how he comes back in year 2 after the injury.

They will load up on offensive skill talent. Jerry and his son saw how ineffective Dak was at times so they know they have to give him a ton of weapons to hopefully improve his play and justify the massive contract/cap hit he has.

Schultz will probably be too expensive but I suspect Pollard is now a very realistic candidate to be back, not on a tag, but a regular contract given his injury. Lamb and Gallup are back for sure given Lamb is a stud and Gallup just got paid. But I suspect you could see them using a first or 2nd round pick on a WR in the draft. Maybe a TE if someone like Mayer falls to them.

Interesting offseason for sure. I think they could use more help on defense but Dak's issues last night likely means the Jones' are going to be hyperfocused on giving him enough weapons to help him become more consistent.
You played the 49ers in the playoffs last year and your offense was dominated. Why did you need to see it AGAIN? Why would you take an offense that could not function against the 49ers LAST year...reduce the level and talent this year...and expect better results?

Agreed with OP.
The Hurts/Garapallo model is what they’ll need to follow. Dak will have to be just another player in the system that compliments the offense.

Bijan Robinson from Texas. Stud back on a rookie contract will make it easier to swallow what we still owe Zeke
What about all those tough yards? Thought your coaching experience could see what we couldn't with Zeke. LMAO.

They really didn't do it while Romo was here either. They drafted Dak as a backup and just transitioned him to starter when Romo went down

This team needs to Draft or Buy the next franchise quarterback with the intention of doing so

What has the last 2 UDFA and 4th round guys done except leave a 4-8 playoff record behind?

They got a player in Tyler Smith last season in the draft so the draft was good again.

But they lost Cooper, Collins, Williams, Gregory et. al. and added very little to replace them. Management needs to pick it up this offseason and improve the roster.

Trouble is our "management". Fat Stevie proclaimed last offseason that you do not win Super Bowls in the offseason. Really, he reportedly stated that very thing. Does he not know that he has a 24/7/365 type job?

And Ole' Jerry stated that any news is good for business even if it is bad news. That leads me to think it is more about the "business" than fielding a winning team. And Jerry had lots of news last offseason business wise.....a couple of cheerleader scandals and a 'baby momma/love child' story. Lots of attention for the old dude to keep him in the media. That seems to be his goal.

1) It is not that bad as regards cap space
2) you clearly have not been paying attention
3) How well has it worked for us? Time to change

WR has been a massive need well before last night. Last night it was just magnified because we played a good team in the playoffs.

Dak and Romo overachieved and Jerry thought he found the next Brady.

It's really that simple for me.

Teams that have a goal to win a Super Bowl don't ignore free agency. It simply doesn't happen.

In fairness, Gallup wouldn't be the first or last player that struggled coming off major knee surgery. I wouldn't toss him to the trash just yet.

That being said, the Gallup situation highlights the stupidity of the Jones and the Jones apologists on this board thinking that WR was just fine in August. Hey guys, Gallup will be back in October! It's all good!! LOL.
They resigned a WR that wasn't even all that fast "before" his major injury and surgery.....yet, they give him a pile of money. He currently looks like one of the slowest WR I've ever seen coming off the line of scrimmage and in breaks...I honestly can't tell sometimes if he is running or jogging.
