I think Eagles win because of pass rush

I would say the Skins have a better pass rush than the Eagles this year. They weren't able to do much. Doug Free is holding it down.

The Dallas Cowboys will lose the game.

The eagles will beat the Cowboys.

Keep up!

Romo is already the most blitzed QB in the NFL. I really don't know why. He is destroying blitzing teams this year sans a bad game in week 2 against the Giants.

People act like we've never faced blitzes this year. The funniest part is that the Eagles have the most vanilla blitz packages I have seen. The ones that give Romo fits are the disquised blitzes in the 3-4 defense, like Denver and Green Bay threw at him. In those games, he had to identify the blitzer correctly, and failed a few times.

He has improved this year, especially in December, so go ahead Eagles, bring on the blitz.

The Eagle philosophy last season, was to bring pressure upon Tony Romo with all costs. But this season, due to much better technique and restraint, Tony has been making blitzes pay...as with the long Witten pass play.

The whole premise of the Eagle defense is on penetration and making plays in the secondary. If Dallas neutralizes play at the very line of scrimmage, and Tony manages overloads and blitzes, then Dallas will take this game.

On defense, Anthony Spencer, DeMarcus Ware, and Jay Ratliff must get to McNabb, while Spears and Olshansky remove lanes to throw through penetration.

I didn't need to enter this thread to know that you hadn't posted much. Learn to think before you post and you'll do fine.

This board jumps on people quickly if anything they say is negative. Not really a discusion board, more like a lynching at times. I just believe the Eagles will bring the pressure and teams have been very close to Tony the last few weeks. Our OL is not what I would call stellar, not bad, but average.

Anyway, learning that being truthful does not get you anywhere on this board.

You're not "being truthful". You're giving an opinion and that's all. Nothing wrong with that, but most on here (including myself) disagree with you. Philly generally generates their pass rush by blitzing, we don't. When you blitz, you expose your secondary and I think we'll take advantage of it. Just my opinion.

We can neutralize Philly's blitzes by running the ball well, throwing quick hitting passes (slants, some screens, etc.). We know the Eagles well and I think we'll have a good game plan for them. The crowd in Arlington needs to be loud as hell during every Philly offensive play, especially on third and long. We need to generate a home field advantage that other venues have.

Actually the hot route to Austin and the screen has really come on lately to help us against the blitz. Philly may really get hurt if they blitz a lot.

Philly lives and dies by the blitz, so I am convinced that they won't change this week. They don't have a passrush with their front 4, and they've been getting burned on blitzes as of late. Hence the reason why teams are able to rack up so many points and yards on them.

Romo will make them pay for blitzing. He has done a great job of that as of late.

If Philly chooses to drop back in coverage (and I don't believe that they have the personnel to play this type of defense effectively), Romo will move around in the pocket until someone comes open, as he's done in the red zone a few times this year for TDs.

Where have you been all season?

This is an interesting game.

If you look at our recent history vs the Eagles, you'll find that they play us very differently in the second game.

2005: We destroy Philly in Dallas. They can't contend with Terry Glenn. We win easily. We had no trouble blocking the blitz and moving the ball. This was a high scoring game for us. In the second game we're getting throttled....Philly's defense really handled us most of the night. But a couple of good plays by Glenn (including a TD) and a miracle INT by Roy give us a huge win. Low scoring game.

2006: Philly sweeps us. They give us fits both times. The first game had Bledsoe almost engineering another comeback. This was a very high scoring game for both teams. The second game we were handled pretty much the whole game by Philly's defense. A low scoring affair.

2007: We destroy Philly again at the Linc. We score well over 30+ points. No trouble with Philly's blitz. In the second game at Texas Stadium, we struggle to protect Romo. Again, another low scoring game for us.

2008: The highest scoring game in our rivalry with Philly. We score 41 points. We have little trouble moving the ball.......we all know what happened in the second game.

This game will be interesting. We really don't seem to play Philly well in our second game for some reason or other. I think most if it came from Jim Johnson adjusting his scheme. Johnson is no longer with us (*** rest his soul)....so it'll be interesting to see how they adjust to us.

I think we'll definitely see Philly adjust their scheme. I think points will be hard to come by for us. This is a game where our defense will really have to show up.

Looking at all of Austinrocks posting, you would think he's not even a Cowboy fan! Nothing positive ever, oh if you ask him Tony sucks at least according to some of his postings.

:laugh2: @ all the "Philly has a pass rush" comments. where have you guys been for the past decade? we've beaten them only 1 time in the 2nd meeting this decade(2005) and haven't scored more than 14 points in any of those 2nd meetings.

now with that said I do think we will beat them in the 2nd meeting because the Eagles new DC Sean McDormett(sp) is no Jim Johnson.
now it's one thing to see it on film and another to see it on the field. Jim Johnson used to play us pretty vanilla in the 1st meeting and than bring the house in the 2nd meetings. McDormett has been blitzing like crazy since week 1 and hasn't slowed down at all. I think offensively we will be prepared this time for the blitz since we saw it a lot last time it's just a matter of if we can execute.

defensively I think our defense is constructed to stop big play passing teams like Philly. we've already showed that against top offenses like Philly(held them to 16 and won) San Diego(held them to their lowest amount of points 20, loss) and New Orleans(held them to 17, won). the difference is this time they will have a huge key to their offense that they didn't have last time in Brian Westbrook. just like the offense it's just a matter of if we can execute again.

but than again given the recent history and the fact that Philly is a really a good team I wouldn't be suprised if we lose. though like I said I don't think that's gonna happen.

Uhhh, Tony was 21 of 34 for 307 yards against the Iggles the first time around, in spite of being sacked 4 times... doesn't look to me like their pass rush "rattled" him in that one...

And that was in Philly, so please, explain to me why it should be a different story when the game's in Dallas??
