I think Ryan Williams is the RB, perhaps with McFadden

I really doubt that. From a practice squad guy to an nfl roster..it sounds good i guess
Leary is now a quality starter on one of the best OLines in the NFL. He was on the practice squad as a rookie.

There have been many documented cases of practice squad players turning down offers from other teams.

The premise of the OP is completely wrong. Highly drafted running backs start immediately and play a ton. It's one of the only positions that almost always does.

I don't think any RB is the "lead guy".

I think they'll pick a guy in the draft and count on one of 3 solid potential guys to step forward.

I agree mostly with this, but Dallas is in a unique position- one that I think the organization believes is a win now situation. There is much in place for this team to make a real run given the veteran established qb and powerhouse o-line, along with leadership (Witten) and elite receiver in Dez. Keep in mind that Dez is franchised, Witten and Romo are getting up there in age, Hardy is only signed for a year... this team intends to make a push. Rarely does a team in such a position trust the backfield to a rookie, particularly early and often. Just don't see it happening. If we drafted a guy like Gordon or Abdullah- nfl ready? type back, maybe. But behind this line, with this qb, they're likely to opt for a tandem of more experienced players, feeling that they can produce just as well but are further along in nerves, reads, coaching, pass pro, etc.

Sorry, but I just don't buy it that the plan was to let your 1800 yard back walk out the door and you replace him with a guy that spent the entire season on the practice squad, especially considering you have a 3 year window before your franchise QB calls it quits.

That cannot be the plan................just like McFadden being the bellcow cannot be the plan either.............Given that Stephen Jones has said this is the best class of RBs he has ever seen in a single draft, I find it almost a given we are going to be drafting one fairly high.

Gordon, Gurley, or Coleman................We will draft one of these guys.

ppl sleeping on randle in this thread id bet money he's our starting rb week 1....jerry had a quote last year when demarco got hurt saying they envisioned him as a 20 carry 100 yard per game back.

I don't know why folks think McFadden can't handle being the starter. He only has about 100 more career carries than Demarco. As for Williams, he's not a strong blocker or ST guy so unless he fixes that I don't see his role changing.

If we draft Gordon or Coleman, not a single person on this board will be thinking of Ryan Williams again.

He can't stay healthy even with a small workload, he looked awful in Arizona (It was not just the offensive line), he can't protect on passing downs, and doesn't contribute on ST.

I slightly understood the Tashard Choice fandom, but I do not understand the love for Ryan Williams. It was preseason people, I can pull up clips from multiple RB's that looked great in the preseason. Hell, Lance Dunbar looked great in preseason at one point and now a lot of you criticize him.

Bet me money, please. Because I would not be surprised if we drafted TWO RBs in this draft, one early and one late, and that one late fights Randle for the third spot.

If we get Gordon or Coleman, they will be week one starters if they stay healthy in camp. It's not even debatable, they are just far more talented RBs.

I don't think Randle makes the team. The team was considering signing McFadden when they believed they would still get Murray back. McFadden is Randle's replacement---Randle is one shred of evidence from being cut from the team.

Hum, veteran leadership, franchise QB(aging) & letting your 1a 1800yd back walk......along with elite OL & WR ........ Now with the moves this FO has done of late, does anyone really think they don't have a plan in place?

There were tidbits released by the man himself JJ
Then confirmed by a player
