I think the Cowboys struck gold with Jake Ferguson the Wisconsin monster of a TE . One pass against the Bucs but he went off for over 30 yards holy smokes Batman . When he’s rumbling towards safeties and DB’s in the secondary they are checking for help !

I hope Dak finds him in Santa Clara on multiple outlet passes and he gets to run over some folks . Good stuff Will McClay .

I think Hendershot is gonna be pretty solid as well.

I forgot which game it was or I would go get the "Sounds from the sideline" video from Youtube. Instead of running out of bounds he turns towards the safety and took a few years off that poor safety's life. The Cowboys sideline erupted after seeing that. If we let Schultz walk, because another team will offer him a big contract for his knack of getting open, let's hope and pray Ferguson has that same knack. He's more physical and a better blocker but it's not been proven he's a better route runner in the NFL.

Don't sleep on Hendershot either. Outside of QB I think TE is maybe the toughest position to transition into from college to pro and both these guys have flashed in year 1.

Shultz, thank you for your service, and best of luck on your new team as long as it's outside of the NFC East.

No knock on Schultz, but the Cowboys offense is very TE friendly, and I would even argue the player they scheme open the most is the TE position. They run a ton of vertical based routes on the outside with option routes inside to help these guys get open in space. Not saying you can just plug and play a new TE, but Ferguson has shown flashes that he is ready to take over, and for the money you would have to pay Schultz I just dont see how the Cowboys justify keeping him.

Long as we don't overpay him I'm good with bringing him back. Anything over 10 million let him walk. The three TEs really seem to enjoy playing with each other. But you're right about our offense. No doubt!

We have several productive free agents we need to bring back so we need to save money somewhere and that's where it will probably be.

He looks very similar to Schultz. Maybe slightly more agile, but in general they look very similar in how they catch the ball and run.

I would love to keep the full TE group together, including Schultz, but the Cowboys could decide to save money by keeping only Ferguson, Hendershot and McKeon.

Something to remember though is that as the #2 TE with only occassional targets Ferguson benefits from being an afterthought in the focus of opposing defenses. I suspect he would be a quality player even if in the starting role, but that is yet to be seen.

He was one of my favorite picks. I loved his toughness and he’s a sneaky athlete. Much better than a 4th round pick IMO. He absolutely could be the starter right now.

Really good blocker too.
Funny thing while listening to the draft was that we were getting washed out at the TE position, Ferguson was kind of all that was left but it seems to have worked out perfectly.
