I think the Cowboys struck gold with Jake Ferguson

As much as people rag on Moore and our O at times…guilty…it’s very TE friend if you can run routes and have good hands. Jake is kind of a clone to Schultz and honestly a better value. I think we can plug him in and be successful

Guy makes a few plays and he immediately becomes a gold starter. There's never a middle ground.

TE will be on my list of needs if they wisely don't sign Shultz.

I think the Cowboys struck gold with Jake Ferguson the Wisconsin monster of a TE . One pass against the Bucs but he went off for over 30 yards holy smokes Batman . When he’s rumbling towards safeties and DB’s in the secondary they are checking for help !

I hope Dak finds him in Santa Clara on multiple outlet passes and he gets to run over some folks . Good stuff Will McClay .

Frankly i have not seen enuff of Jakey to feel comfortable about his future starting status. His primary contribution is as an in-line blocker.
Only seen the " occasional " catch and run skills, and he's schemed wide open on roll outs
.I'd prefer to see him the primary featured TE on a frequent basis vs coverage, and the deep middle seam.
But that would not happen if Dalton is re-signed.

- Otherwise he's a reliable backup until so.
I highly doubt Cowboys will use franchise tag on Schultz again.

- They will either make the decision to re-sign him to a long term extension, - even if it's overpaying in same sense of the highest paid TEs.?
Or they will chance Ferguson as the new heir apparent feature TE ?

- Ferguson will be a do over when it comes to NFL experience and sheer rapport with Dak.
Security Blanket for Dak - 3rd down conversion and the occasion over shoulder catch vs coverage is what i'm seeing with Schultz.
Although his blocking is still shoddy and he cannot sustain the edges.

Hendershot reminds me of that Hybrid player between TE and WR. We need to get all these dudes going if we’re going to make a run here
I see him as a Walmart Great Value version of George Kittle. He is a little smaller than your average NFL tight end but can really get on the move when you get the ball in his hands.

Dalton Shultz deserves to be resigned. I'm not putting my faith in a rooke TE. Dalton practically catches every damn ball thrown to him. And don't just look at him strictly as a TE. He lines up in the slot also.

I'll say this. I was upset when the Ravens took Charlie Kolar one pick ahead of us. But Ferguson was a great pick.

And if the TE from Notre Dame is still odrafting him. board I'm draft

I think Fergi is doing a great job but Shultz is doing really good. He finds a way to get open. He may not be speedy but he has really good hands and gets to the open spot.

Ya'll quit knockin Mr. Shultz.

I wasn't that impressed with Shultz this year, but he's really peaking here the last few games. Seems like he and Dak are reading each other's minds, and Shultz looks healthy. I really like Ferguson, he's a little bit more athletic than Shultz, but there's no way to know if he could develop the level of rapport with Dak or master the nuances of the position.

Ferguson does seem to have potential. Maybe he can develop into a player of Schultz caliber. He is most definitely not there yet, but we can hope.

I'm not seeing what others see in Hendershot though. He's not close to the same level as Ferguson IMO.

Keep in mind, any draft pick used to address this position is a pick that can't be used elsewhere. Schultz is a proven reliable player. Ferguson is not yet. Again, Ferguson may become very good, perhaps better than Schultz. But that is a risk- unknown. Statements to the contrary are pure speculation.

Ferguson + Hendershot are EXCELLENT, and this year has a very deep TE draft. Schultz has proven his quality but these guys make it easier to stomach moving on from him and focusing on Pollard, Wilson, etc. to re-sign.

He's got some nice speed to him, but it's different when you're the go to TE, vs the 6th receiving option that doesn't get the same attention. He's definitely shown promise though where we're all intrigued to see what else he can do.

With three TE’s on the bench behind Sgt Schultz Colonel Klink wants to go looking for more TE’s ?

Schultz just had literally the best playoff game in Cowboys TE history and folks here can't wait to show him the door. It's funny.

I would love for Jerry to find a way to keep both Schultz and Pollard . My thread was strictly praising the play of Ferguson . Off-season salary cap issues will make the Amari affair look mild if people head for the Commanders and elsewhere .
