I think we may finally be a team

Watching last weeks game where the Offense really stepped up to pick up the slack, and then today watching the Defense with 5 take aways, it's good to see us picking up in phases of the game where we were deficient.

Good to have folks you can count on.

I really think that once we get Tnew and Ellis back Our Defense is going to be brutal. I may be as excited about this year as any in the last 10.

What I like is the confidence I see when we fall behind in these two games. Our guys just calmly get their act together and fight their way back down the field. That is really all I can ask from this team. FIGHT. No crumbling under the pressure on the road and making a bunch of stupid mistakes. Just FIGHT, and especially beat the teams you are supposed to beat.

I'm still not sold on the defense. I guess I have to wait till Newman comes back.

I just think we can't put a lot of weight in those takeaways. Fumbled snap, badly overthrown balls. Against a good QB, those things won't happen. The 2nd Anthony Henry pick was pretty good though.

It's almost tangible what we're seeing each game.

The whole team's confidence level is growing.

If it keeps climbing, that old swagger we've been missing for so long will be back in spades. I love it.

And I also don't want to talk about confidence or swagger.

The same things were said last year after we went on that winning streak. Then we faced New Orleans and Philly at home.

I might chance my perception next week after we face the Bears.

Only the pick by Hamlin appeared to be an overthrown ball, and part of the reason for the overthrow could have been the receiver shortening up the route due to Hamlin being in that spot. Timing-based offenses are designed to be thrown to a specific spot. If the FS is sitting in that spot, there isn't much the receiver can do. It was a good defensive play and a poor decision by Trent Green.

I was also referring to other Green passes where the receivers were wide open with no defender in sight, and Green just overthrew them. We can't rely on bad throws to open receivers if we play a good team.

Why then wouldn't you put a lot of stock in the takeaways? Three of the interceptions were great plays by the secondary.

I love what our offensive line is doing. However, the penalties are frustrating. The way it has happened so far, one guy gets flagged, and then another get flagged right after. CONCENTRATE GUYS! With the weapons we have offensively, the only ones who can stop us is ourselves. I say if we can get Flo on a short-term deal, we keep him. Otherwise, time to find a new LT. Colombo continues to impress me. So does Bigg Davis. I think Ken Hamlin is doing a good job also.

Unless there's a consistent TREND of creating takeaways like the Bears, then you can't rely on takeaways as a measure of how good the defense is.

I'm glad they're winning so far, but they still have some work to do, esp on d.

Giants are mediocre and the finns suck. These are games we are supposed to win. Chicago should be much more of a real test, though I think we SHOULD stick it to them too.

I agree with you. One hand helps the other.

Now we need our special teams to step up next week. Hester and Vasher can really pile up the TD's on kick and punt returns.

I thought our Special teams has done pretty well. We've had some big returns in the kicking game and Folk has been solid so far. Now if you are talking about our kick coverage then yes, absolutely, they have to work on that IMO.

Yes, I meant the coverage units. They did improve this week over last week, I thought.
