I think in the second half of the season, specifically the last 4 games, we're going to see how smart of an idea this youth movement is.
We have emerging players who are gaining roles either due to being new additions on the roster, players playing higher on the depth chart, or simply they are rookies.
- DeMarco Murray
Murray is the 2011 version of the 2009 Miles Austin. Started because of an injury, instantly used that opportunity to break records (I don't care if it's against the Chiefs or the Rams), and better yet continued to produce subsequent to those games.
- Laurent Robinson
I don't need to eat crow on Murray, because while I felt Felix would be the starter, I more than welcomed Murray here to get rid of Choice and Barber. I do however need to eat crow on Laurent Robinson. When he came here I wasn't at all impressed with him. But I've really enjoyed his consistency. He is a former 2nd round draft pick, and he just fits in our offense. He is a veteran and clearly has more experience than Dez Bryant and Kevin Ogletree. I believe his early career was slowed down because of injury. I feel as though the longer he is on the roster, the more we'll be able to open up our offensive playbook.
- Tony Fiammetta
He is actually one of the most exciting new players for me. I've always wanted us to have a lead blocking fullback, and he is just that. Another player like Robinson that we got from essentially no where, but just fits perfectly with our system. I hope he can stay healthy, because the more he gets involved in our offense the more productive our running game will be. In future seasons, it would be great to see him develop some pass catching ability, but we don't have to worry about that right now. He just has to keep blowing up holes for Murray and hopefully for Felix as well.
- Tyron Smith
I feel like Smith is going to be an absolute beast as this season goes on. The more he learns and sees the better he will keep getting. Turns 21 in a little over a month. This kid is so young it's not even funny. I think he will be a top 3-5 player on offense by the end of the year. We haven't even come close to seeing the end of his upside.
- Dez Bryant
(see topic on Dez Bryant) Think the kid gets a bum rap, he doesn't have much playing experience. Still think he will be a top receiver in the league, for us, and this year. Consider his 27 games in a 4* year career at Oklahoma compared to Smith's 3 year career at USC where he played 24 games.
- Bruce Carter
Assuming that Sean Lee can come back to us this year at 100% and assuming that we make the playoffs, Bruce Carter's ability to be thrust into the lineup and gain experience now will be so useful by the end of the year. The combination of Carter and Lee will allow us to bring Orie Lemon up and use less of Brooking and or James. I feel like both of those players are gone next year.
Costa, I just think he can only get better, but I wouldn't hate to give Kuwalski a look or two. He must be pretty bad in practice to not have replaced Costa.
