**I-told-you-so** Thread

How does me being a cocky fan affect the teams' play, preparation, and mental state?

Why do I gotta eat humble pie because I believe the hype? How does that impact the team?
Well, you're right, it doesn't.

But it's a bit curious and at the same time hilarious when we dog our own players for being cocky when they haven't won anything when some fans get on here and are cocky when we haven't won anything.

Yes, of course I feel vindicated. And yes, I'm happy that the Cowboys are 1-5. Not that I have enjoyed watching them lose. It still sucks. But I KNEW that change was desperately needed, and now I know that change in coaching and personnel is on the way. So I'm unfading. And anyone out there who wants to acknowledge that my observations were much more on target than you thought they were (there are TONS of you), feel free to do so.

Now, let's flip this organization inside out, bring in a real head coach, and return to greatness!

I have said from the outset that we have a poor season any time the training camp practices are conducted in the 1960's style throw back jerseys. It reminds our players of our sorry beginnings and is a psychological barrier too difficult to overcome. Who could protect a QB when he looks like Jerry Rhome for goodness sakes? And if I'm dressed like a team that had Bob Lilly and then a bunch of no names, how in the world does that get a team ready for a championship season? When I saw that, I said right away, this will be a bad season. And look? What did I tell you?

I see what you did there

Well, I don't think you'll see a cocky soul anywhere nowadays.

That said, fans are fans. They can be as cocky as they want, because their reality has no bearing on the team.

Players can be cocky, but they have to back it up. The problem is the 'boys haven't backed it up. And listening/reading to their interviews, they're not feeling too cocky right now. That's how things go.

I lost count how many of my threads got either deleted or close b/c people thought I was trolling.

I warned this whole board about this defense months ago. I warned everyone on this board about the overall physicality of this team almost a year ago.

Now everybody wants to jump on this bandwagon when it is too late. :laugh1:

Yay for you.

Do you feel better now being able to thump your chest and say your right?

If so, good for you.

Honestly if people weren't so damn rude with the name calling and stuff when someone said anything but the vanilla company line back in august then threads like this wouldn't happen.

I remember call out threads after week 3 that where much worse then this one. Fans around here would rather shoot the messenger then face reality.

A small part of me actually enjoys seeing the homers on here get more and more angry and abusive after the crap they gave anyone who didn't buy the sunshine company like in preseason and the first 2 weeks

Hey I've been a strong supporter of the opinions that this team has a huge problem along their line. I knew there were problems, so I know what you mean. But my whole thing is, at this point, Cowboy fans are depressed enough. I don't really want to push things in their face with the kind of season we've had, but I don't mind jumping into a thread or two created to express that I was aboard that wagon long ago.

But I'm not at all happy we're 1-5 and out of contention for the most part and I'm definitely not happy Romo is down. But from here on out, at least we can look forward to some change.

Good point, many a realist/vanillaist was given a hard time during the preseason and early parts of the season, especially after the Texans game.

I just see it as pointless now. The actions speak louder than any words any one or two fans could ever say. Look where we are, look what the problems were and look at where we're going. The justification has played itself out on its own.

Yea, rubbing it in people's faces considering the current situation we are in is not the best idea.

You should be very careful bout pointing out that your were right. I made that mistake a couple of years ago and was banned for a few days for "taunting".

Last year I railed about how Minny beat the stuff out if us in the preseason and was pummled w/ "it's only preseason". I held my tongue when they killed us in the PO game, instead of posting that you can't expect anything else because in the preseason their starters beat the stuff our of our starters.

Preseason is not about winning games, it's about seeing how you stack up against other teams, and who can play and can't play. If your starters don't measure up in the preseason, they won't measure up in the season. This team does the least amount it has to to "win". This is why they lose to inferior teams as well as better ones. It also gets in love with itself and that leads to complacency. The Giants almost made this mistake Monday after our team quit. No one on this team has any pride. Jerry hired the guy that danced on the Star mocking us. How much pride do you think that takes?...

No, most of you guys are just negative to the core. Then you brag about your negativity as if it is some type of accomplishment. By default a person is negative. You have to make an effort to think and be positive. And now you get to gloat, how pathetic.

And nothing in the preseason would suggest that this would happen (Cowboys were 3-2). Most of us do not know what goes on behind the scenes and in practices.

BTW, the 49ers were undefeated in the preseason. Howd that turn out?

God. The preseason play was unrelated to the season play. The two aren't connected. At all. The variables between preseason and regular season play are significant.

Every year, people mistakenly make this connection. And during the years the team is good, they sheepishly say 'my bad' and slink away. During an inevitable bad year, they take their victory lap, still not understanding that they're attributing the wrong causes to the effect of losing games.
