Mike Martz said few days ago that one of the things the Saints reminds him of the SB winning Rams team was how quickly they ran the plays. He said the Rams would try to run a play with about 15 seconds left on the play clock. They wanted to dictate the rhythm of the game and the quicker pace gave the offense the edge.

I think it will also help us with false start penalties.

...how good of a strategy that would be for our offensive line. We are built for power football with the size of our line and these guys might not be able to handle a quicker pace to the game.

When Felix is healthy he looks like a #1 back without question but I think they are just taking precautions and easing him back slowly. I'd start Choice until I was confident Felix could handle full time duties without injury...

What he said.

I want to see more of the Felix we've seen the last couple of weeks that seems to be getting some of his explosiveness back. I was glad to see him get a nice TD run.

I would like to see us use Felix like the Vikes use Percy Harvin. Felix has good hands and I'm sure we could draw up a few pass routes for him other than screens and dump offs. We need to find more ways to get him the ball if we're not going to run him a lot.

Can Some One Let J.g Or J.j Know That Felix Is Suppose To Be Our Starter???!!! I Mean Come One! The Guy Is Avg 9+ Yards Per Carry. Im Am Getting Sick And Tired Of Barbers 1 Or 2 Yards That He Strugles To Get!!! Please Felix Jones, Choice, Barber. That Should Be The Depth

Me too, I think Felix is just starting to break out now, like he did at the first start of the season last year.

Thing with Felix though, you have to guard him against playing to much, he might be injury prone.

I still think that it would benefit Felix Jones greatly to get a personal trainer like Emmitt Smith and Zach Thomas did, to stretch his muscles, etc....

I wouldn't mind seeing him break a 60+ or 70+ yard run myself on Sunday. A quality win over the Giants and a breakout game for Felix would cap off a great 30th birthday weekend for me.

The more I see Chris Johnson each week light it up I want to see Felix get more touches. What if we would have taken Johnson would he be getting as many carries as Felix does for us. Heck, Johnson is the best back in the league look what he does with touches. Agreed let Felix out of the barn.

Harvin is a hybrid RB/WR but his build is more WR than RB.

Felix is a true RB who has some ability to catch the ball and rare ability to run in the open field.

Felix just needs to start taking about 50% of our snaps at RB. Many of our problems offensively will magically disappear almost overnight - same thing happened when Emmitt moved into the starting lineup back in 1990.

Barber is avg 4.6 ypc, since when is 4.6 bad..... I agree Choice should start, mix in alot of Felix and let Barber close like he should be....

I would rather have Felix Start and the change of pace guy would be Choice. BUT Felix seems like He's made out of glass. Maybe that's why His touches are lower.

I never knew Emmitt came of the bench, thought he started from day one... Since he did hold out he probably didn't start the first 2 or 3 games... but I'm pretty sure he started almost every game as a rookie if not all...

You can't get tough getting 5 carries a game... take his lumps now get stronger in the off season.

Barber does not have the explosiveness that scares defenses and forces the LBs and safeties to concentrate on stopping the run. This slows down their drops and opens space for the WRs and TEs to work on in the secondary.

Also remember that Felix was averaging 9 ypc before his injury and put up 7 ypc against the Raiders - his first game back without the brace after his injury.

I think Felix's injury this year is almost the same thing as Miles Austin's injury in the middle of last year. Garrett was just starting to gain confidence in Felix in the Giants game when whoops - he got injured. I really hope that we won't do to Felix what we did to Miles - sit him on the bench and only rarely let him out on the field because the guy ahead of you is more established (RW11 in the case of Austin last year and Crayton at the start of this year).

Garrett needs to become a bit more aggressive about working kids into the mix earlier and not being afraid to go to them when they are better than the incumbent starter.

When they really started utilizing Emmitt alot was around the 10 game mark and that is when they went on their run from 3-7 to 7-7 and then Aikman got injured and Laufenberg finished the season.

The next year Emmitt put up 1500 yards rushing and we made the playoffs. The year after that the Super Bowl.

You don't bury dynamic players on your bench behind mediocre veterans and that is all that Barber is right now. With a year of rest, maybe he can come back and play the finisher role and short yardage back role for us. It seems when you start him he loses his power very quickly.

Felix had no injuries in Arkansas.

Anyone can pull a hammy like he did against Cinci.

The tendon injury to the toe when rehabbing was a freak sort of a thing - will probably never happen again.

The knee injury was due to a very awkward tackle on a breakaway run against the Giants. It was also a bit of a freak injury and not a very common ligament injury in football and his was only a low sprain, not a full tear.

I think we have to let Felix do his thing for 10-20 touches per game with Choice spelling him in the red zone and Barber sparing him in short yardage.

I agree, it's time to take the kid gloves off of Felix and let him do his thing.

Right now we really only have Austin as a dynamic playmaker out there in the regular base offense and 3rd down offense. It is making the defenses job too easy. Double Austin, keep an eye on Witten and blitz the hell out of Romo and the Cowboys can't do anything.

If Felix is in there the blitzers will have to worry more about a draw to Felix. They won't want to go into unbalanced fronts. They'll really have to worry alot about Felix sneaking out into the flat and getting a 1-on-1 situation with a LB.

In the base defense, it now becomes much harder to double Austin when the safeties have to worry about Felix and the LBs will hesitate for a second before dropping back.

I think Jason Garrett is the only OC in the league who would use Felix this little - a guy who averages 8 ypc in the NFL? Garrett really overthinks things some times. I think at times he is trying to recreate our 1990s offense with Barber playing the Emmitt role - the problem is that Barber isn't Emmitt and our OL can't pick up the blitz reliably. Someone from the outside needs to come in and have a talk with him.
