I Want To Believe In Dak

But at the end of the day they have invested in the D and the offense around Hurts. It's kind of silly to suggest otherwise.

We had way more holes than they did this offseason so to say what we did was wrong because we should have spent all our FA dollars and top picks on defense misses the larger picture here. We needed a talent influx on both sides of the ball and reality was there was no way they could fix all of that in one offseason.
yes, they made a trade for brown. had invested in getting a WR, resigned their OL men or in FA. spent a 3rd two years ago on a tackle. a 2nd on a center. they didn't spend the 12th pick of the draft on a RG!? then spent the rest on defense. also spent on defense in FA.

when was the last time we really spent on defense? Mazi!? guess what, two years in a row their first round pick was a DT!... we spent a couple of 7th rounders hoping one sticks!

we had way more holes, because our personnel were mismanaged for a longer time. we should have spent on defense. two years ago, we had the top offense, run defense was shaky and we got raped against GB by their rushing attack. same as the year before that and the year before that....

fix the defense first. which we haven't for years....

So you are saying that defensive tackle dooms the defense? I don't at all. Offense still dominates cap...maybe not team level talents right now.

No matter the plays called( his 5th playcaller)or personnel support (see 9 All Pro team mates in 2023) this guy ain't winning 4 consecutive playoff games against playoff defenses, coaching staffs and playoff QBs.
It's a reality that ya just gotta face.
And a very sad one.
It's why all these optimism threads that are popping up are pointless.

Fan how you fan but know the reality.

If they say it, they probably have. I don't say that, I still enjoy watching the games. A lot more fun when we win, but I enjoy them, either way.
Same with me. The regular seasons have been pretty good for the most part so I have no expectations beyond that.

This forum is the only social media site I belong to and its actually helped keep it interesting and entertaining despite the lack of a SB Championship......or getting to a SB.....or winning the NFC Championship......or getting to the NFC Championship game. Lol

DT, LBs, Safties..... offense dominates cap for most teams because of QBs....but doesn't mean you only spend on offense. yeah yeah yeah, we resigned Osa. will resign Parsons.... but for this team it is disproportionate. not only on the sides of the ball, but also players. if parsons is signed to a 40 M contract. that's 130M for three players.

Useless is not having values beyond prejudice.

Is the Dallas offense now at the very top shelf?

Well there ya go...
Cowboys!

The make or break season was last season for it's Head Coach and his staff. Not this year for Dak Prescott.

Speed kills in the NFL. It’s not only a critical trait for playmakers, but a great way to open up the field and create ancillary opportunities for others. For years the Dallas Cowboys have been missing that explosive element to their offense. It’s not that they didn’t have any fast players, they just couldn’t get those fast players on the field in meaningful roles.

In 2025 that all stands to change. First-year head coach Brian Schottenheimer has insinuated he plans to get the most from his personnel this season. And by re-signing resident speedster KaVontae Turpin in March and drafting game-breaking lightning bolt Jaydon Blue in April, he has the pieces in place to make it all happen.

https://cowboyswire.usatoday.com/st...n-jaydon-blue-explosiveness-2025/83532585007/

Play action will be elevated and take a lot of pressure off Dak Prescott. Very strong tools for a good Prescott.

2024 marked career highs in receptions and rushing attempts for Turpin. His ability to stretch the field and take any ball to the house puts defenses on notice. And Schottenheimer’s desire to use motion at the snap along condensed formations, makes Turpin a key cog in the Cowboys machine. Based on statements from Schottenheimer and Turpin’s shiny new three-year, $18 million deal, the three-year veteran is likely to post career highs in both offensive categories once again in 2025.

Blue, the Cowboys' new rookie running back, stands to impact the offense in many of the same ways. Blue posted a 4.38 40-time with a 1.52 10-yard split at the NFL Combine this year. His ability as a rusher and receiver opens up a wide range of possibilities for Schottenheimer as a play-caller. Unlike Turpin, Blue is built rather stoutly. He may not be an old school bell cow RB, but he’s certainly capable of being a committee leader.

Many more applications and strengths are being added and honed by the entire team, now.

But I just can't. Dak has obviously flashed some top shelf ability at times in his career but going on 9 years in the league all he really has accomplished are some humiliating bad performances in the few playoff appearances he's made. I won't get into the horrible contract extension he received here.

The worst part is he's been injury prone and obviously regressing from an ability standpoint. In his last 8 games he's 3-5 with a 45 QBR. My point is he was never enough and he's not getting better. So is Pickens better than Cooks, yea of course he is but is he that much better that he makes that kind of difference in Dak's play? Is Tyler Booker better than Zach Martin? The point I'm making is that I don't think you can make enough good moves on the offensive side that drastically changes the one thing that ultimately determines the outcome of games and that's Dak himself. I obviously hope I am wrong but I don't think I am.

As a Tennessee fan Milton ain't it either, more upside than Rush yes but he's a Temu Dak.
if I had any belief in dak,it ended when he ran the ball on 4th down against the niners... One of the dumbest decisions I've seen in a long time at that point.

The offensive line will be improved and Dak has 2 great WRs. Our running game will be improved and our TEs are adequate to good. This is the season Dak proves the haters right or the homers right because no one will be able to argue he is not supported. Me personally I hope Dak has another all pro season because that will mean we’re competitive. I just hope he doesn’t suffer a season ending injury.

I wouldn’t be so quick to flush Milton down the toilet. His NFL film looks decent. Let’s give him a chance.
For me, Dak is one of those players who APPEARS TO BE on the cusp of a serious decline. I hope I’m wrong and that he will be reinvigorated by the Cowboys organization’s recent efforts to rebuild/reload.

Either way, I believe the upcoming season will provide us with a true measure of where Dak ACTUALLY STANDS in the arc of his football career.

The clubs inability to evaluate talent at the QB position has doomed them. Viewing Dak as worthy of the largest contract in league history is shocking enough, but the trades for Lance and Milton really demonstrate the ineptitude.

More of a team indicator after three consecutive years with 12 wins. Playoff team strengths are grown over time as well.

I have less than zero confidence in DAK.
Then you must think he’s an awful QB and one of the worst in the league, if not the worst. Not sure how we won 12 games three straight seasons if he’s as bad as you think he is. He’s got his flaws and his best days are probably behind him but he’s far from a terrible QB. The concern is how he will look after the injury.

The only true thing shown here is bias and doubt.

I'll just move beyond stereotype bias as foundational elements.

Cowboys RB Jaydon Blue’s top speed in college was 22.3 MPH — and it looks like he got there effortlessly KaVontae Turpin and Raheem Mostert are the the only NFL ballcarriers to hit 22.3 MPH or faster since 2020, per
