I want to say something positive about our defense

I really like our safeties too. Unfortunately I don't see them having the impact they're capable of without a competent pass rush.

I remember Church started off last year looking like one of the best safeties in football. Then as the pass rush faded, his level of play dropped off a bit.

I keep drinking and I won't be conscious for Gametime.
And Alcohol's payback is definitely a B, even if our team might not be able to attain it.

BUT- I'm sure if I eat something starchy like my girl's German Potato Salad I just might be able to last at least a few more hours...
And blast myself with 200 mg of Dimenhydrinate around say... 3-4 AM.

I'll be right as rain buddy.

Dallas Will Settle On A Group Of Defenders

The Cowboys will settle on a collection of defensive linemen once they find an effective collection. It is possible though unlikely better players will come available. Once the Marinelli finds a rotation that is effective, rotated at a rhythm he likes, he will be unlikely to add new players. Expect the turnstile at the bottom of the roster to stop turning, unlike 2013.

Dallas’s Defense Will Steadily Improve

This season Dallas is already one of the youngest teams in the league. As key players return, like Scandrick and DeMarcus Lawrence as a nickle rusher, and current starters gel, the defense could be much better in November and December than it is in September.

Reasons for hope?

This is what I'm hoping for on defense.

There is no one - and I mean no one - around the league going "Oh snap, how are we going to deal with Church and Wilcox?!!?!"

Think it might be a good time to start one just like that?

I saw it as Heath, Sims, and Lawrence being much easier targets. It's not like people started throwing on him or something.

Well if that is what was required to be successful then maybe you have a point. In the meantime, how you envision someone else approaching our defense is besides the point.

Our safties are going to be key in limiting big plays. They also have the opportunity to make plays because thir zones will be challenged. Them keeping everything in front and tackling well will be huge for this game.

I think they are up to the challenge.

Good for you.

Go ahead and post to some other team boards asking how much they fear Church and Wilcox.

Don't be discouraged by the laughter.

After the previous and sound season with stats as well, one could be surprised by at least the respect for Church. Wilcox, is a click removed from 'rook.' How much envy does one really think that shall evoke?

But not all other fan boards are not equal to the task of being realistic.

If people on team boards knew what they were talking about, our conversations here would be a lot more productive. The debates about Anthony Spencer and Jason Hatcher being "JAGs" are a case in point.

Most fans can't accurately handicap their own team, much less one they don't even follow.

I have watched every preseason and regular season snap of Wilcox and can comment intelligently about his abilities.

How many of the fans on 'other teams boards' can say the same?

An uninformed opinion is worthless.

It'll be fun to see how they perform tomorrow. I'm very interested in seeing how the new additions work out.

positive you say? I think we will have more 3&outs by our defense and coupled with fewer 3&outs by our offense, we win the TOP battle each week...that is a start to overall success for the team

I have a little hope for Wilcox but yeah. When this is the position group you are hanging your hat on, you have a real stinker of a defense.

Still, Wilcox has a chance to be the best safety we've had here in a while. Or the potential to make me look like an idiot for saying that.

Yep. It all starts up front.

I think people would be amazed at how well our secondary would play with a legit front seven.
