No one would listen to you because you are WRONG.

It was in the kitchen, and it was with the candlestick, but it wasn't Professor Plum.

I agree. I was really hoping to get a WR at the 20th pick like Troy Williamson, Roddy White, but Mark Clayton fell to us and I regret not getting him. I think a young wr talent like him would be a huge help for now and the future. Jury is still out on Marcus Spears for me, I know he can be a solid starter, I wonder how much more he can do.

can't regret taking Mark Clayton until he does something spectacular in this league, and Spears busts

and the jury's still out on both of them, just comes with the territory for rookies

by now it should be obvious to anyone that "the plan" was to revamp a defense incapable of applying pressure to enemy QBs. as clayton isn't even a defensive player - how would that have served "the plan"? there's some more work to do (i.e. add more playmakers at LB) but i'm still down with "the plan". i think spears is going to be a perennial pro-bowler in a coupla years. and a stalwart on a defense we'll be proud and happy to have.

defense wins championships - and i want my doomsday D.

I still wish we woulda taken Sean Locklear over Peterman who hasn't played a game yet. Locklear came out as a guard and is now the starting right tackle for the NFC leading Seahawks. The draft guide I had rated Locklear higher.

Spears has outplayed Clayton this year. Clayton just plays a more visible "Fantasy Football" position.

The hardest commodity to find in the NFL is not WR, it's quality defensive linemen. Parcells did the right thing. Look at how the Patriots have built their team draft wise. They started with Richard Seymour, and they added Warren, and Wilfork, all first rounders. WR? Their starters are a 2nd rounder and a 7th rounder. They have used 2 firsts on TE's though.

Clayton would have done as much this year for us as Peerless. He would have been behind Crayton. Spears recovered fumble and return in the KC game was one of the biggest plays of the season so far. I'm content with what BP did. Having said that I'd like to add youth to the offensive side of the ball in next year's draft- I could see a WR being selected in the 2nd or 3rd round.

agreed, a good WR is alot easier to get than a good 3-4 DE

Give spears time, trust me....He will come around. I think we made the best choice, as Marcus was a gift from god at #20

KNEE JERK, KNEE JERK, KNEE JERK..... OWWWWW! Watch where you're kickin' Muleshoes.

I am now more convinced than ever that we'll regret taking Marcus Spears instead of Mark Clayton with the 20th pick. Parcell's passion for defensive lineman blinded him into making the wrong pick. I know there were some in the war room who wanted Clayton. He would have been a great pick. He's going to have a great career.

I'm not saying Marcus Spears will not have a great career. I'm still hopeful that he will have a very good career. I'll just say that it seems much more likely that Clayton will change the outcome of many games over the next several years, while it would be difficult to say the same for Spears.

By the way, I also still think I was right when I said Mark Clayton will have a better career as an NFL WR than Matt Jones.

I also liked Clayton, but now way am I ready to say taking him would have been better than who we did take. With Spears being injured and missing time in preseason it will be next year after the off season before we know what we have with the rookies from this year.

I have gotten used to seeing potentially great WRs go to terrible teams every year. Especially the ones I was enamored with on Draft Day.

1. Andre Johnson
2. Roy Williams
3. Mark Clayton

And I'll throw in Anquan Boldin though I certainly won't say that I wanted him on Draft Day but he has since become one of my favorite young WRs to watch and is stuck with the Cardinals.

If any of the above players ever makes his way to Dallas during his career I will be a happy camper.

If anyone knows the FA status (if any) of Andre Johnson I'd like to know it. THAT guy is a beast and I'd rather give him the $ and if necessary, give up the draft picks to get him.

I asked this question not too long ago.
I'm pretty sure his contract has been extended in Houston.

I would have been happy with taking Mark Clayton at #20. There was too much depth at the DE position this year. We landed a good one in Chris Canty and there are an abundance of DE's in the draft next year.

We landed a good DE in Canty in the 4th round of the same draft. How were the Cowboys to know that they would be able to do that?

I'm pretty sure JJ doesn't have a time machine.

I could understand your point if
1) JJ did have a time machine and was able to discover that they would be able to get Canty.
2) Canty's two injuries would not be a problem.
3) Canty would pan out as a player.

I disagree, down the road Spears is gonna be a DOMINANT Dlinemen for us. He's still a rookie and a year in the off season program to get STRONGER and FASTER. I think he's gonna be great for us...

This was only his 2nd year, I doubt he's on their radar for an extension for at least another two years.

Besides the Texans are more concerned about Carr than Johnson, right now. They've got a $8mil option bonus they've got to decide on.

Players who might be available from their WR corps are Corey Bradford and Jabar Gaffney. Gaffney might be restricted this year. He's more of a possession receiver. Problem is, he's average and we got Keyshawn and Crayton for that.

Bradford is unrestricted, I believe. Speed guy w/questionable hands. Hasn't done a thing since leaving GB.

to assume any player on another team you happened to want would be the same player regardless of the team he went to is a BIT unrealistic.

but fans do it all the time. sigh.

Clayton? Are you kidding?

I would have loved for us to get Matt Jones, if anyone, but Spears is going to be an excellent player for us for years. Who else would have played that end for us? The Great Kenyon Coleman?

No, you weren't.

Marcus Spears is a starter.

Clayton would of been a 3rd or 4th WR at best.

We made the correct pick.
