it is probably delayed by a day or two, but they mentioned that we are supposedily very interested in Booty and Ainge at QB in the "mid-rounds" to replace B Johnson in 2009.

Not sure if anyone also heard the same rumors, but I thought that I would post it anyway.

(And by the way, that J Dukes guy is HUGE. He needs to lose about 1/2 person or he's going to have a heart attack.)

Well, I like Booty too.

He kinda fell off last yr, but he will be a good starting QB in this league. I would pick him up in the 3rd if he's still around.

Ainge is a stiff.

This guy was a total flop in College but he is as physically gifted as anyone in this draft.

Kyle Wright from Miami.

He's big, hes got good speed, and he has a cannon.

He'll make some throws sometimes that has you dropping your jaw.

If you can keep this guy in a system and let him learn it he could end up paying off big dividens.

From Seahawks "field gulls" (haha) fan site on BOOTY--

John David Booty, QB, USC:
JD (that's for you Matthew) was a top pro prospect entering 2007. Despite posting a statistically similar season to 2006, his stock has tumbled. NFLDraftScout ranks him 7th, behind Joe Flacco's arm and Josh Johnson's 40. While Flacco was making all the throws against New Hampshire, Booty was posting a 62% completion percentage and a 15:2 touchdown-interception ratio against top 25 defenses (2006-2007). In a pro style offense. Booty gives Seattle a real developmental quarterback and someone to build the future around.

His accuracy has always impressed me. If he sinks as far some are saying he'll be a steal-- the next Romo! But without the golf game or the celebrity babes.

This was based on what Todd Archer's article said. Which has nothing to do with what Cowboys are interested in, nor does Archer say that cowboys are interested in drafting a QB, but he thinks they should be thinking about it I believe.

Ah . . . . o.k.

I thought it was based on some insightful reporting.

I guess not.

So let me get this straight. Most of us aren't thrilled that Brad Johnson is Romo's backup cause of his age and poor arm strength. So, we want to draft Booty or Ainge (or somebody else like them) in the mid rounds so that in 2009 one of them can be the backup to Romo. Are you guys serious? You think so little of Romo's play (Romo turns 28 in April) that he can easily be replaced by a QB one year removed from college. Geez, why don't we get rid of Romo now and save all that money. Of course we will stink for the next few years but heck...no problem.

As for Romo's celebrity status which some don't like. You better go back and take another look at Cowboy history. Romo is one of many Cowboy celebrity QBs going back as far as Meredith, through Aikman and now Romo. Being a celebrity QB comes with the territory of being the franchise starting QB for the Cowboys -- assuming you are single. I guess we can prevent that by ensuring we only draft married QBs to replace Romo.

Personally, I DO want to see us start developing a back-up to Romo.

The sooner the better, IMO.

How many more years do you think B Johnson lasts? The guys going to be 40 this year. It's time we start thinking ahead. Now, whether the guy we draft this year can be the number 2 next year we'll have to see. I'm sure there will be competition. But the longer we prolong the process, the more we'll have to pay in FA. IMO, we should start the process asap.

As for the celebrity status, I could care less however.

Jamie Dukes is a former NFL O-lineman. He has always been that big.

I think its a near lock we take a QB at some point...and if we end up with some extra pick/s from trading down, I wouldnt be surprised if it ended up being a 3rd or 4th rd guy

I like Booty and I cannot lie. You other posters can't deny that he might be able to walk in and be a good backup. ;)

He sucks. He's not accurate and doesn't make good decisions. And that was in college.

I'd be ok taking him in the middle rounds...by all acounts he's smart, has good phsycial skill in terms of throwing ability, has produced at a bigtime program in big games and has played in a pro style offense

I think he'd make a fine backup one day in the not too distant future, and maybe more
