We finally made it home. I am exhausted after starting my day at 5am to pick up the tickets, but man - WAS IT WORTH IT OR WHAT!!!
First of all, you will be happy to know I started losing my voice in the 2nd quarter and was nearly completely hoarse by game's end. Because of traffic we missed the first 8 or 9 minutes, but as it was only 3-3 at that point, no harm done.
The crowd was pretty into it, but ugh, way too much Green and Yellow in the stands! Makes me sick. It was basically a neutral site until we finally pulled away. Many times a flag would be thrown and the Stadium crowd would cheer and I couldn't tell if it was on us or them!
Also, I don't know if it was because the crowd was so raucous throughout, but I couldn't hear the P.A. announcer the entire game. When there was a flag we couldn't hear the ref announce the call. No news. Nothing. Kind of left in the dark as an attending fan, at least for this game.
We chipped in to get a third ticket for my cousin. I think ktbb had 8 tickets they were giving away, but if they were all located together apparently we were the only ones who showed up! There were six seats right next to us that stayed empty the whole game, so I called my cousin at halftime and had him come down to sit with us for the second half from his lone upper level seat.
We tried getting creative with chants later in the game.
"COWBOYS - WHAT IS YOUR PROFESSION?"
"AAAAH-OOOH!" "AAAAH-OOOH!"
When Nick Folk kicked the FG at the end to go up by 10...
"HE'S A NICK...FOLK...HERO!
"WITH STARS IN HIS EYES!"
"NICK - FOLK - HERO!
With my cousin assisting in the second half on timing chants, we were able to get some nice "DE-FENCE!! "DE-FENCE" and "T.O!! T.O!!" chants going in our section.
Barber and Witten were beasts down the stretch. Romo was his usual self, which is to say excellent. Record setting night for him and Ware!
The T.O. drop and INT happened right under us. WHAT IN THE WORLD HAPPENED!!! Romo should have finished with 5 tds and no picks. At least we still won the game.
After the game, rather than sit in the highway parking lot we walked around the stadium. First, sticking around to watch the post-game show and see T.O. come out and chat. We saw Witten, Carpenter, and Ellis leave the locker room area and exit the stadium. We shouted something at Ellis and he said something back, but I'm too tired to remember what. I remember he didn't walk out, though, but drove out in a Bentley or something.
We sat in a midst of great Cowboys and Packers fans in the corner end zone. And a lot of drunk people, which altogether made it interesting. It was fun walking around the tailgating area afterwards and chatting with visiting Packers fans.
It's a shame that Favre got knocked out. I wanted to beat them at full strength. Oh well, we'll have another shot in January.
