Doubtful. An ailing Springs is going to have to cover TO or Glenn one on one more than occasionally tomorrow, as they'll likely be blitzing nearly every play. The only way we lose this game is if we beat ourselves.

I'm not saying I think we lose the game, but you can't minimize
the effect losing your best corner has on a defense ... it's huge.

First of all he's their best corner, which means he is the Commanders best chance at success. You take anyone's best CB away from them and they are hurting ... I don't care who the player is.

Secondly, he is alot better corner than alot of people here would like to admit when healthy, which of course has been his primary problem throughout his career.

I'll give him credit for being a good corner when he's 100% healthy, which is rare. Tomorrow will be no different, and abdominal injuries are difficult to deal with when you're a DB. He would have his hands full with either TO or Glenn when he's healthy...imagine how hard tomorrow is going to be for him.

The Commanders best chance at success is having the Cowboys beat themselves...which we've proven we're capable of, but I don't see it happening tomorrow.

Oh, I agree. He's going to have the weight of the team on his shoulders tomorrow.

I definitely agree that our best chance to lose is to beat ourselves ... which we have become increasingly efficient at doing this season unfortunately. Hopefully Romo helps us reverse that trend and become a more consistent football team.

I admit that I was a little disappointed we didn't try to hit Glenn deep against Carolina.

So was I.

Fortunately, or unfortunately, depending on how you see it, Terry's not the type to lobby for a more open game unless we're losing. He's done it twice with Bill since he's been in Dallas, near the end of 03 and last year, but I doubt he would say anything to put more 'pressure' on a young QB when what we did last week worked. Plus this one looks like a real ball control affair.

What I'm interested is seeing is how the coaches expand Romo's playbook on a week to week basis. I think in the correct circumstances Bill will want Tony setting defenses back with long passes..if the play action is working, sure, why not take a few shots downfield..

..I remember when Bill had a very developmental Ray Lucas in '99 and the week-to-week expansion. Lucas had a rocket arm and nothing like Romo's acurracy, but Bill let him air it out very quickly. Cripe, even Quincy got to take some downfield shots. :)

I'd like to see it, but I'm happy with 300 yards in short to intermediate passes as well.

Yeah as we watch him grow into something more...

I was concerned about the Deep ball before Romo took over. He hasn't really thrown a deep ball at all. He had that lob up to Hurd but thats not exactly what Im looking for. I wanna see him hit someone in stride way downfield.

If teams stop playing a cover 2, you may see more of it. Also, if teams start blitzing more, and if they stay in a cover 2, you may see some "not so deep but not so short" middle passes up the middle with a 3rd WR or Witten.

I see what you see. That pass to Witten after the Texas 2-step was SWEET!

1 - We weren't exactly taking crazy shots downfield with the Cannon Arm in before Romo took over - heck, with Romo at least we are completing some nice intermediate stuff - something we haven't done well and consistently since the first part of 2005.

2 - I'm fine with a shot or two downfield when necessary, but as long as they play Cover-2, I'm more than happy to play like we have been. The deep ball is a little overrated, IMO, outside of the fan love for it. It can keep a defense honest, but I don't want us to go to a complete vertical passing game, a la Martz or Norv. I like our system the way it is - get it into the WRs plays and let them make a play.
