I would sign Durant and Parnell to extensions during the bye

Durant came cheap initially and with his latest injury, I'd offer him the same deal, or one just a bit better, to come back. I think he fits the weak side spot to the T and I would be Lee on the strong side when he gets back.
Carter will be too expensive to sign and you can't keep everyone. I absolutely bring Mcclain back but I let the market dictate the price for him.

If Parnell plays the next 2 games like he did against Washington then I offer him a deal right now. We signed him to a deal that average just over 1 mil/yr so maybe 3 or 3.5/ yr would do it now. But I think you can get a steal with him right now. He's 2-3 yrs younger than Free but might be 5 in football age given the little wear and tear. He's more powerful (there were 2 different times I saw him pancake LBs in this past game and the double team blocks with him and Martin are more devastating than they were with Free), just as quick and is actually showing some technique that I didn't think he had. There were several plays that they tried to bull rush him and he just slapped their hands down and threw them off balance.

He went one on one against Kerrigan for most of the game and dominated. There were a couple of plays that I saw where he would have yielded some inside pressure after sustaining his block for a while but that's gonna be expected with most tackles, even first round picks. It looks like developing him has payed off and we need to reap the benefits.

The question is how it affects the chemistry with Free, knowing that they already signed his replacement. I really would look out for the future of the team here. And if he plays like this the next 2 games, I don't bench him for Free. The most I do is rotate both of them the rest of the year.

i don't expect parnell to be signed till they atleast see what free wants. we could use both since we have no other backup ot but not likley we can sign both. most important thing is get atleast one of them signed. durant should'nt be hard to resign i would'nt think
i would guess that if anyone is signed during the season it would be dez. since he fired his agent there may be something going on there
another possibility during the buy might be RO

Between both choices I will go with the cheaper guy who has more upside. To me it's a no brainer if he keeps this level of play up.

Btw, does anyone know how to embed pictures on the forum? I have them uploaded to imageshack.

Parnell is younger and has less mileage and has more upside. He is just a little over three years as far as experience TOTAL as an O lineman. None in HS or College just the pros.

Durant can't stay healthy and it's pretty apparent he never will. Hard to resign a guy like that.

I think Dallas is leaning more toward Durant than Carter. Jerry made a point of talking about Durant today. Carter on other hand has second half of season to make his case. I am also slightly concerned with McClain now that initial excitement of playing football again has worn off. His body language is tempered now. I wonder if he is having second thoughts of playing full season and practices. He is a high risk signing because he could announce another retirement at any moment. I still don't feel Hitchens is starting LB so Dallas will need to draft another LB this year maybe even as high as 2nd rounder.

There's one guy I'm signing over the bye week his name is Dez Bryant

Bryant is not going anywhere. He will be franchised if he cannot work anything out so no need to stress over that one. On Durant and Parnell, however, you could get very cheap deals that over the long haul could save you 2-3 mil/yr over market value.

Still not sure where this opinion of McClain comes from. Is Sean Lee missing the whole season? Has Bruce Carter already missed 4 games? Has DeMarcus Lawrence already missed 8? Has Doug Free missed 3? Is Mo Claiborne missing essentially the whole season? I mean I could go on and on. PERHAPS....PERHAPS....if Ro McClain shut it down to nurse his nagging injuries, his "body language" might impress you. But I see a guy...who has been out of football for a minute....playing at an elite level in spurts. I see a guy that is probably playing through some injuries that have other members of the team on the injury list. And he is PROBABLY doing that to avoid opinions like yours. But yet....you still question him? I don't know what the future will hold with him...but I really wish people would stop looking at the evidence that is in front of us when it comes to Ro McClain...and jumping to the conclusion that the evidence suggests he is on the verge of walking out. Because to me...the evidence suggests he is giving his all.

never blamed Ro for what happened in Oakland. Talk about a true NFL Black Hole.

Lee to the strong side would be the stupidest move of all time.

Lee would be a better Will than SAM but it wouldn't be stupid given what Dallas has.
The SAM job here is to man cover occasionally, rush the passer and play the Tight End head up in the run game.
Sean Lee can handle those duties with ease.
His issue is playing Mike and staying healthy when ramming into 300 pounders every play.

Carter is also best at Mike. So is Ro. Durant is really good everywhere but he is best built to be a Will.

I think they'll go with Sean Lee at Will but it is VERY likely it won;t be SAM and if they decide to shift him to SAM he'll play it just fine.

as to the OP-

You can always offer and see what happens. Parnell and Durant to team friendly deals make sense. They may well bite.
BUT I can see both angling for a bigger a payday after the season. Especially Parnell who sees a starting job coming for sure.
I think Parnell could easily end up being way overpaid to start elsewhere.

So I don't think either deal gets done.

Dez has to hire a new agent before anything can happen. Since he has fired his old one you can be sure he actually wants a deal sooner rather than later.
Whomever this new agent is will be exchanging numbers with the Boys his first week on the job. So that one is more likely over the Bye.

I think Lee at Sam would be a real bad move. Alot more contact on that side. Lee needs less contact. I would like to bring them all back and Durant can play Sam or Will and Carter is better at Sam than Will. Carter was terrible last year and has played better this year at the Sam. I say bring them all back and let Carter and Durant battle for Sam and the other play back up and nickel. We need depth on this LB Corp as we can see this year.
