I would trade Zack Martin for a 1st and 2nd

Hear me out....

Zack is one of my fave Cowboys but....he's playing hardball and will want a ridiculous contract.

We cant have all our cap dollars tied up in linemen, I wouldn' sign him anyway for the contract he wants so why not throw some trade bait out there

1st and 2nd or two 1sts...whatever

If any team offers 2 1st round picks for any player we had better take it. The problem is teams don't think Dallas is willing to deal good players. Dallas needs to gauge some interest with teams like indy, buffalo, or the browns.

No one in the top 10 will give you a first and second. If they did, I'd trade him in a heartbeat. Draft one of the top 3 OGs this year to replace him on a rookie contract, and then have another high 2nd rounder.

But no gm in his right mind would do that.

You wouldn't sign the guy who solidified our line and is arguably the best at his position in football? LOL. Glad you aren't the GM sir. Like I get it obviously. But losing Martin would destroy this line.
Not if he was replaced by any one of the top three guards this year...they'd all be strong starters; that wouldn't destroy anything.

So you wanna trade away an all pro coming into his prime and let Jerry wild cat with a couple picks? Got it.

So you want to get rid of a proven All Pro for a gamble in the draft? LOL. Great plan.

Whoever would trade a 1st round pick for a 28 year old with a huge contract should be fired.

I'd love to negotiate a contract with you.

"Give him whatever he wants because we have to sign him!"

I want to keep Martin as much as the next guy, but I also don't want to spend the next couple years losing skill players because we've tied up too much cap space in linemen. The deal has to make sense.

Name a time when a team traded away the best player at his position in the league so that best player in the league would be playing against that team instead of for them. Teams don't get better trading away the best player at their position they get worse.

You obviously under value vomit.

Look at how many teams now want to build the same type of line the Cowboys had in 2016 because they know that opens up so much more offensively. This is not the case of addition by subtraction. The Cowboys only get worse without Martin.

Im not saying give him whatever he wants. That is crazy. I am saying give him what hes worth. Just like we have with the rest of the players on the line who aren't really hurting our cap.

Absolutely. I cringe at what Zeke is going to want and then this team thinking about carrying a TB with a massive cap number on their books.

Gurley and Bell should set the market for Zeke, although Bell has a caveat to his worth. Gurley will be the one to watch. I will be surprised if he gets over 10 million a year.
