Stash, I'm slowly coming around to this perspective, as well :(

Credit where it is due, you've been campaigning for it from the start, brudda.

I still hate typing those words ("coming around"), but it is what it is. Dak is dazzling.

It's not a 'bash' or 'knock' of Romo as some people want to see it, but a critical assessment of all of the factors involved, with loyalties and emotions removed.

The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, or the one, in this case Romo. Someone can understand and appreciate everything he's done and everything he's endured and fought through without requiring the team to sacrifice winning to accommodate giving him his job back.

I'm frustrated for him about how things have worked out, from nit having the team around him, to his repeated injuries making him unavailable. I understand that, but I also understand that things can't be changed, and they won't be changed by simply putting him back out there.

Some want to simply assume that 2014 Romo will show up on the field, and score even more points than the team is currently scoring. That everything will somehow be "better", and not possibly worse. And the facts are that is speculation, ignoring the guy who never looked right in 2015, and threw 7 INT's vs 5 TD's before he not only got beaten, but crushed by the top defense he faced.

Instead of fondly looking backward, I would rather look forward, and at the present.

Jerry should mess with everyone. Forget this debate. Sanchez starts with McFadden at RB, Escobar at TE. Jeff Heath plays WR. That will show em!!
That's just stupid!! Everyone knows Heath will be the kicker!

Yeah good buddy, I kind of hesitantly jumped on that train a couple weeks ago and it has just picked up speed since. It honestly does make me feel conflicted. Years ago I think I began to want a superbowl for Tony nearly as much as Dallas. I got tired of seeing a classy guy that sacrificed his body over and over again beeing raked over the coals. I got tired of explaining to morons how good he really is. I've seen how much he cares about this franchise and I wanted badly to see him be vindicated with a championship. I wanted to see him clear his name and forever have the right to be called a champion. But it looks like the writing is on the wall now. This team is the reason I loved watching Tony and rooting for him in the first place. So now this team has to do whats best for the future. Dak is our QB and hes great on and off the field. Tony deserved a better ending and maybe he will get one, but right now our qb has to be Dak. Hes earned it and we cant go away from success playing hypotheticals about what might have been.

PS sorry for being the drama queen but anyone with a sense of loyalty and appreciation should understand. Romo will always be one of my favorites as a player and a representative of the team.

It sure would have been nice to have all this Dak love back in the spring when I was pushing for him and
everyone else thought he was a bum. It felt awful lonely out on that limb when he was selected late
in the 4th round of the draft and there was loud crying for another failed Jerry pick. Lots of gravy train
followers on this board now along with "Johnny come lately" fans, for sure...

I agree, but hopefully if he inevitably has an off game or the team loses, it's not deemed broken.

I can't help but think of the reverse. They put Romo back in, he struggles due to rust, injury, whatever, and they either stubbornly stick with him, or turn back to Prescott after ruining their momentum and they never get it back.

Yeah there are a lot of nightmare scenarios. Which is why they need to just make their decision already and stick with it.

At this point, with the leadership, more than anything, that Dak has taken by the reigns -- commanding the huddle, staying poised in the pocket, making smart and accurate (Brady-esque) throws... I'm almost starting to worry that pulling him may stunt his development and psyche, as all he's done has been nearly perfect. It may be an overstatement and a bit dramatic, but there is an argument there.

If he looked rattled, even once (he hasn't, not once), then I would be campaigning for a Romo return, still, and wanting Dak to learn more on the sidelines. It appears his best learning process is in the game, on the field, guiding our dynamic offense. Linehan has also bought into him and has been scheming for him like an elite offensive coordinator (never thought I'd type that, either).

I've done a full 180 on my take (as you know), and I'm never above admitting when I'm wrong. He needs to stay in, and our beautiful Romo as the league's best backup, in case of an unimaginable injury to Dak, needs to be ready on the sidelines. Mentoring and supporting his now heir.

Gah! So painful to type, Stash!

This is why the media clowns are saying Jerry is going to ruin our season. I have faith that the club will make the best decision, hence the hesitancy of deciding on the present situation. Jerry has cooled it recently, we saw that with the Martin pick over Manziel a few yrs back.

Incredibly well put, Rise. I couldn't have said it better myself. Thank you for this post. :)

If Cowboys lose with Dak coming off the bye then the team has their window to put in Romo for Cleveland. If the team loses to Cleveland then we've got a full-on controversy.

I think we all knew this, hopefully this will kill some of the discussion of Dak/Romo talk.

According to Ian,

#Cowboys, smartly, won't make a firm QB call until it's necessary. If Tony Romo isn't ready by Nov. 6 -- and he may not be -- Dak rolls on.

LOL..............everyone knew this? Since when? Guys were saying Romo would be back in the 3rd week. VERY FEW were saying that Dak would still be playing. VERY few. And we all got hammered for it.
