I'd like to see Tony get one series on Sunday regardless

And I'd like for it to be predetermined to be that first series of the 3rd quarter, so there's no hand-wringing about how Dak's playing. I'd like for it to be publicly stated, and that the rationale is we want to give him the benefit of some field time before we actually need him. His preseason was cut short. And if we need him at some point, how much better if he's not throwing his first regular season pass of the season.

But maybe that's just me.

Not me bro. We know what we got with Romo. Let the kid play and keep his job..why put extra pressure and media scrutiny on him by letting Romo play a series.

Is it official that Tony's suiting up and active as the #2 Sunday? Either way I say we continue the course that led us to best record in the conference/league and not overcomplicate things.

I don't think the game will be decided until the end, but if we are somehow in a blowout situation again, I'd love to throw Romo out there with the rest of the starters and watch him work. No better way to get some live game action where it wouldn't really matter if he is rusty.

No thanks.
Not unless there's an injury. Even then, they may use Sanchez this week.

Optimally, if you could plan for the blow-out, yeah, that would be the best. But since you can't, I just prefer the idea that it's pre-planned and just part of the script, because it's a legit point--not some excuse under some conspiracy to undermine Dak, in spite of how some might interpret it--that he really got almost no preseason snaps. And so, in view of the increasingly-realistic vision of a Super Bowl run, it's wise/prudent to give him an initial scheduled opportunity to allow him to get in there and get-in a few throws and get some timing down... as you suggest, knock some rust off.

Will he dress this week? Dunno, but if not, then I still say the same thing for next week. It should happen, not necessarily because we want to eventually hand it over to Tony--this is regardless of that--but rather, because it puts us in an optimal position to keep the train rolling no matter what comes up.

If youre going to give him time do it in a blowout one way or the other. Dont force him into a game against a competitive team that needs wins.

Or start him. But dont throw him in there in that specific scenario.

What you're proposing is something one would see in a preseason game...I can't recall ever having seen a team do something like that in a regular season game in the middle of a season. My worthless opinion is that they'll ride Dak until Dak isn't Dak or bring Romo in in the event of injury to Dak (knock on wood). At this point, I'm just going to place my faith in the coaching staff to do the right thing. I won't ***** no matter what they do. They've probably forgotten more about football than I'll ever know.

Not related...but i hate that saying. How does what someone has forgotten help the case for their qualifications?

I'll make you a deal then. If the score is 35-20 Dallas, with 2 minutes left, he can have at it.

I know this is something that would never happen... but it'd be awesome if we could somehow use both Dak and Tony regularly. I know all the people who think they're geniuses will say "ohh you can't do that... you have to give the reigns to just one guy" or "it has to be this guy's team!" blah blah blah. But seriously... our locker room seems to support both guys. So from a leadership standpoint it wouldn't be an issue. From an on-field standpoint, it'd be so difficult for the defense to game plan for. Having Dak as a duel threat and for play action. Have Tony come in for deep ball throws and shotgun formation. Switch them out every other series or maybe every two depending on the situation. I know, I know, it just can't be done. You gotta have one QB. But seems like it would be a good idea to me.
