I bet he couldve been a decent WR.

How do you know he could even catch a football? Add in traffic, over the middle, diving, etc and he could suck :D

If he played football his whole life and never picked up a Bball and concentrated strictly on football, he probably could have done it. There is no way that he steps onto an NFL field and dominates anything at this point in his life.

I agree with 3rd scout

The third scout had a different take: "He wouldn't be able to take the physical abuse. A guy that tall crossing the middle of the field would get killed. I don't think he would last a single game."

Not to burst any of your bubbles, but, LeBron was a disgustingly good WR in High School.

In fact, every coach from his high school days say he was a much better football player than basketball player.

So was Allen Iverson...

The "he was good in high school so he could make it in the NFL" argument is pretty ridiculous, imo.

Just like Calvin Johnson, right?

Think of the redzone threat he would though. Fade is a guaranteed TD every time.

I think everyone is comparing him to the wrong athlete here, so far.

Rather than compare him to Calvin Johnson, we should be comparing him to Jimmy Graham-- a guy who mostly played basketball and then picked up Football in college.

Graham:
Ht: 6'7"
Wt: 265 lbs
Vert: 38.5 inches
40 yd: 4.53
Arm length: 35"

LeBron:
Ht: 6'8"
Wt: 260lbs
Vert: 44 inches
40 yd: 4.5 -- 4.6 (so he claims)
Wings span: 7' 1/4" (can't find arm length... stupid basketball)

(and for comparison...)

Megatron:
HT: 6'5"
WT: 239
40 yd: 4.32
Vert: 43"--45"
Wingspan: 6'10" (Arm length: 33 3/8s")

big difference in 6'5" to 6'10"

Who's 6'10? Lebron is barely 6'8 and there have been more than a few 6'6 (Escobar is almost 6'7) receivers/TEs in the league and no one snapped in half in any game. And unless he actually plays, all of this speculation is fairly worthless. IMO he would be an awesome Cowboy. He actually looked better playing center field on D (see video on link above) than he did as a receiver. He has great hands, and his speed, especially considering his size, is freakish.

is he really only 6'8"? I really thought he was closer to 6'10"

That's what he's listed as.

His weight is actually harder to figure out. He's often listed at 255, but I seriously doubt it. He's also weighed in at 275 ish in the offseason (IIRC). I'd say he's probably 265, but 260 seems fair.

James was recruited out of high school as a WR. He was an all-state player, so if he focused on football he most likely would've made the NFL.

Its hilarious when some think that guys on Bron's level couldn't compete in this league, when you have guys like Gates and Graham who dominate it but were marginal bball players. Some guys choose bball over football merely to save their body from the violence of football, and heck I would too.

If Bron actually wanted to play football, he would be a dominate force and with the new rules DBs couldn't even take his head off for being so tall. The plain truth is that there are alot of power forwards in the NBA that could play NFL football at a high level.

In the future I expect to see receivers, especially TEs, get taller and taller with the new rules.

He´s a freak of nature, If I were a betting man, I´d say he could have played Tight End at a very high level, but I guess we´ll never know.
