This is a non-issue. He probably goes to IR with no noticeable effect on his development or the team. The only difference is we have to bring in a PS QB to run scout team. So essentially swap out a PS spot for an active one at QB.

So you are telling us that a QB who has the tools but spent very little time in a pro-style offense isn't going to benefit from doing things like running the scout team?

McGee needs to be practicing... if he doesn't he's just going to end up another guy with tools who can't make quick enough decisions. See Henson, Drew.

I would not be surprised if that happens. McGee is a long term project not a player who will see any time this season.

He would not see any time this year pending some catastrophe.
But being away from practice for a year. . . i dunno, that would put a huge roadblock to his development. A development that at the start of the exhibition, . . . i mean preseason, sorry Roger . . . was looking waaaay long anyway. That goes for any rookie.

I say we keep this overpaid scrub and make him practice because if romo goes down and Kitna goes into a tailspin, we need at least someone to hand off the ball and throw the cheapies to our gifted TEs.

And who is this roster spot for?

Stanbacks not worth it, Gibbons? Watkins?

Mcgees development is very important.

I hate this idea. McGee not ready to play this year but I see upside and want him available. Maybe he gets some mop up duty. Learn more that way than holding a clip board.

Mcgee is a just another failure of a draft pick...he can sit for years but will never amount to jack...
