You do not like the idea of the Cowboys beating the best competition that is also playing great? Isn’t that the most enthralling?

Troy Aikman and the Cowboys going to SF and beating the favored Steve Young/Jerry Rice and company in a well played game by both teams. Had to be the most satisfying win I can vividly remember.
Beat the best, be the best...not a two way street.

That’s the easiest scenario you could imagine. It could get much easier.

Minor injuries to all starting and backup QB’s, O-line and D-line, multiple position players for all opponents to where we play third/fourth string players and win each game by 50 is ideal to you?
you mean how philthy got to the SB last year?

Let me start with-I hope the Cowboys win the Super Bowl this season. However, if I got to write the story before it happened, then….

As a fan, I’ve always liked the team I’m cheering for to win biggest games against the best teams and everyone from both teams playing their best. My ideal scenario for a Cowboys’ Super Bowl is to face the best teams in the NFC followed by facing the best team from the AFC-and winning. It’s more fun, exciting-and SATISFYING than beating a team with tons of critical injuries or beating inferior teams.

It also feels more legitimate. Beating a very good SF is very important for this club to feel like they are graduating to the next level (the quality of the team plus the recent past). Dallas has been a tier two team (there are many) the previous three seasons, and played like it in the regular season and playoffs. We all want them to become the best team-not just be the most fortunate. The easiest path should never be desired from fans that can actually stomach the team losing. Just play your best ball and see where it takes you.
I'd say an ideal scenario is GB, TB, LAR then probably KC in the super bowl ;)

The ideal scenario is GB, TB, LA, and Mason Rudolph.

Win a championship. The notion that they have to go through the toughest road to somehow validate it doesn't add up to me.

They did beat a healthy Giants team (not saying much), and looked better than Purdy and SF when Purdy was playing. They came very close to beating KC. You can hate the Eagles and respect their achievement last season all at once.

This was about my ideal storyline (as mentioned in the OP). I would like to see the Cowboys beat a healthy SF this postseason more than any victory on the way to a Super Bowl. That would be the most satisfying win in the past 28 seasons.

Dallas won SB XII by beating legendary QBs Bob Avellini, Bob Lee, and Craig Morton/Norris Weese.

That they didn't have to go through Tarkenton, Stabler, or Bradshaw doesn't lessen the achievement.
Yes and Morton took care of Bradshaw and Stabler that year. They had their shot.

Unless a team is historically good, its success in a single elimination tournament is mostly a numbers game. If it keeps making the playoffs, it’ll eventually hit on the right circumstance.
