As long as they win those tough games I’m all for it, because that is my ideal. Yes, I want them to win bottom line though-no matter who they face.

If they were to lose, I want it to be an all out fight from every team member against another great squad that squeaked past.
Okay, so your statements about how fans should root for the toughest possible opponent IN ADVANCE were not reflective of how you actually feel.

This team hasn't played in a CCG in almost 30 years, yet we have fans who will only be satisfied with a SB win if the Cowboys run the toughest gauntlet possible.

No I said I would rather beat the best teams (the toughest) teams if I was picking the pathway to a championship.

You are attempting and failing to get me to say I would rather the team lost to a difficult team than beat a lesser team. My original post said nothing like this. I think you and others are feeling triggered because I rightly said many here did not want to stomach the thought of facing the tough teams because of higher chances of a loss. Therefore the ideal scenario for many would actually be wishing for multiple minor injuries for all opponents to virtually assure a win (which I believe to be chicken ****).

I would be more satisfied with a win over a great healthy SF team than Tampa Bay-yes. I have not waivered on this, nor did I say that I would only be satisfied if they won a championship by beating SF along the way. Nice try straw man.

Sorry, but you said exactly what you are now claiming you didn't.

There's simply no other way to interpret, "The easiest path should never be desired from fans that can actually stomach the team losing."

Straw man? :muttley:

This from a guy who has made multiple unsubstantiated claims, based solely on his personal feelings, and contradicted himself multiple times.

When presented with evidence that contradicted those feelings you simply demanded more evidence, going so far as to refer to a Cowboys SB champ as a loud mouth.

Why? Because what he experienced didn't match your feelings as a fan? What a thread.

I see- I should change desired to preferred. That better? My main premise has been from the start what I preferred or how I would want the pathway to be. I said I wanted the team to win-then followed with a hypothetical narrative of the way I preferred they win.

I think you are triggered though, I apologize if your feathers are ruffled. You have no preference and would be just as pleased or satisfied with assured wins against 3rd or 4th stringers than a hard fought win versus a great team and all their starters?

They give you the same trophy if you win. There's no smaller or bigger trophy based on who you happened to play. That only exists in your imagination.

Sigh. It's the second half of that sentence--"...that can actually stomach the team losing"--that carried the message you are now denying.

Where did I say I would only be satisfied if the team followed the toughest gauntlet?

I love listening to Nate Newton. He’s a hilarious and silly loud mouth. He has loud opinions and personality. That doesn’t mean he can speak for everyone else. I said I bet most players want to face the other best players and win. You responded with this Newton quote like it completely refutes my opinion that most great players want to face other great players.

You have created fake arguments like the Charles Barkley analogy. He would rather win a championship than to lose to Jordan-duh but it’s not like he never wanted to face Jordan. He probably wanted to face Jordan and win the series. Is he on record saying he wished he could have faced a worse team so that he could have gotten a trophy (that was not said in jest)?

That may be, but I cannot imagine someone saying they do not enjoy it more, or get more excited in a great game than a blowout versus lesser teams. I’ve been saying again and again that my ideal or preference would be beating the best teams.

Would you have been more satisfied with a close well played win for Dallas over SF last season than the blowout win versus Tampa Bay (taking rounds of the playoffs out of the equation)? Or is a win just a win no matter the opponent?

You took it that way pal. If I started with-I want the team to win a Super Bowl, but yeah I have a preference for how it happens (and then detail my thoughts).

Then you took that later statement as me saying I want them to lose rather than win against lesser competition. There are many people in this thread and others that have expressed their preference to be the easiest path as their ideal path, and do not want to even entertain the thought of the tougher path (because it makes them entertain the higher potential of a loss). And I basically said if their desired ideal preference was for the easiest path, I disagreed with their ideal preference.

This thread gets funnier with each post, all because someone needed the Cowboys to run the toughest road possible to really enjoy a SB win. :muttley:

Meanwhile, they haven't even played their wild card game yet much less won it.

"My favorite team hasn't even played in a conference title game in 28 years but I need them to beat the best to validate a Super Bowl win."

Sure thing, Drago. Let's see if you can even knock out Rocky in Moscow first.

I actually think it’s funny because we’re both wanting ultimately the same thing. A Dallas Cowboys’ Super Bowl win. I like watching good football from both clubs. I think good football is more entertaining than blowouts and that’s my preference. Gooo Cowboys!

Wishing for SF is wishing for a death sentence. That’s the last team I want to face. This team craps their pants when they walk into their stadium and see Purdy, CMC, and Kyle Shanahan

My memories of Super Bowl XXVII are Cowboys players really enjoying the 52-10 blowout win. Although some may have had concerns for Jim Kelly's well-being, I don't recall any of them saying it would have been more satisfying if he played the whole game.
I think the dominant, blowout win was enjoyed immensely by both the Cowboys fans and players. It showed just how good they were.
Maybe some are wishing for the hardest road because they are on record for saying "this" Cowboys team will never get to/win a Superbowl.
Now that would really be cowardly!

Of course we all enjoyed the actual Super Bowl win game. Even Jimmy has admitted that the game that decided the Super Bowl happened in SF two weeks prior. Which was the most satisfying to watch personally. It also signaled a changing of the guard. SF the team of the 80’s had to make way for the team of the 90’s. I’ve never predicted the team to never win with Dak as QB or with Romo as QB. I have serious doubts, but have always taken a wait and see approach.
