Gosselin was on his regular spot today on 103.3:

Mark Followill: Parcells was asked about Merriman today and he said he'd have been happy with either him or Ware, do you believe him?

Gosselin: I think Parcells wanted Merriman and that Jerry wanted Ware... I think he saw Merriman as his Carl Banks. But I think the owner won out. I think that's one reason Ware is wearing 94.

Galloway: Are you serious? Rick, don't tell me that!

Gosselin: I think there was a draft-day fight and Jerry and Stephen won out.

QUOTE]

yeah Gosselin, it had nothing to do with the fact that Parcells and co might have caught wind of the flim flam Merriman was about to pull with the Postons

David

The Magic Word....... The Postons It is a well known documented fact that Bill Parcells hates them. If Parcells had not already made up his mind on Ware and If Bill caught wind that there was even a remote possibility of Merriman going with the Postons..Well that sealed the deal for Ware.

I honestly believe that BP is happier than he has been in a long time with an organization. I also believe as long as his health is good he will be the coach of the Dallas Cowboys.

All Jerry has to say is "are you gonna let your Flunky-Bill go down in history as the better Bill?" :laugh2:

He sounded real eager at the PC today.

and another thing...after what Ware's showed in preseason, why would anyone in Dallas be upset with the pick? Ware was a sensational pick

whats Merriman shown other than his arse? he held out of mini camps...held out of TC...didnt do squat on the field once he did show up and then got hurt...oh, he I guess he did shoot his mouth off about opening day...otherwise

Not sure why Goose has to try and create a war room rift....when it was reported and somewhat substantiated by JJ that it was the barber/canty situation that had them worried.

Remember the story that JJ wanted Canty right then and there and was afraid they would not get him if they did not take him where they wound up taking barber.

From what I've seen of Barber - Its a good thing we snuck back up and landed Canty.......

I'd agree with that. I lost any faith in Gosselin as an analyst when he came out with his "why Arizona's offensive line is the future" article a bit after Leonard Davis was drafted. I think about half the line he touted as the future is gone now.

hey Gosselin, Merriman might have been a Banks, but why did Parcells say Ware reminded him some of LT if he didnt want him? who would choose a Banks like player over a LT type player?

and for the record, while it might be outrageous to compare ware to LT right now, its even more outrageous to compare Merriman to Banks...Merriman isnt half the player Banks was

The Goose always starts this crap about Jerry and Bill. I do not know bot Parcells compared Ware to Taylor, as good as Banks was there is no comparison

Man what an incredible group of linebackers the Giants had back in the day: Banks, Carson and Taylor were all-world. Pepper Johnson came on to the scene a bit later and was very good as well.

Speaking of linebackers, I haven't heard much/anything about Bradie James. Any word on him?

Gosselin: "I think... I think... I think..." Absurd. Is it possible that BP would be so high on this guy and compare him to LT if he felt this way during the draft? Possibly. If BP says he would have been fine with either one, why not just believe him? If we are going by what we "think," some of us think it had more to do with Merriman's agent and Ware's talent and potential. Maybe we picked him at 11 instead of 20 because we really liked him. That's what I think... He gets paid for this, too.

And we also realized that he would NOT be there at 20 and Spears just might.

This is ridiculous, everyone here knows Parcells and his history. Remember him in New England and the Terry Glenn pick? He sure took that sitting down  Buying the groceries and all that.
We also know Jerry loves Henson and look how he strong armed Bill in to playing him.
The bottom line is if Bill didnt want the kid then we would have found out by actions and deed if that were true or not. He sure as heck would not have been comparing Ware to LT.

no, Jerry wanted Marion Barber there, Bill didn't, but Jerry won out, that's why he said he was sweating it waiting for Canty to fall...

about Gosselin, what he said is a load of crap, remember Bill said why draft someone who doesn't remind you of someone you used to coach? and then he goes on to say, the day Ware was picked, that he reminded him of LT, and I also remember Bill's comment before the draft when asked about Merriman, that he said he would need to lose weight because he might be too big for OLB, not so with Ware...

Of course, he also says that we are too old on offense and too young on defense, that we are a "mediocre, rebuilding team", and that even with our (grudgingly) admittedly good draft, none of it matters without a quarterback.

I say again... This is the guy presenting our guys at the Hall of Fame. Do you trust him to make a good presentation?

he is an idiot!

:lmao: :lmao:

If you have a choice between LT and Banks, you pick LT everytime. Tuna would pick LT everytime. He's comparing Ware to LT so I have no doubt that he endorsed that pick.
