Its cream, that offwhite creamish actually. There are two single coils and one humbucker. It has a floyd rose bridge made by jackson..jt6. the pickups are active. They sound really good, from the limited amount I used it.

as far as price goes. I set a reserve at 250. that is what I paid and I know these are hard to come by. So I have to get at least that or I will keep it. I am really not sure where this will go at. I have seen them lower and higher than 250.

If I had the money I might hit you up on that.

I love those old Charvels. I had an 86 or 87 model2 with the same case (and yes my lock broke off, the same one on your case to be exact). So yes those cases came with Charvels, well at least mind did.

The trem system on those Charvels are kind of sucky. Actually the nut system is one of the coolest for the Floyd Rose licensed ones as you don't need an allen wrench to loosen them but could just use a penny or dime. But the actually trem/bridge kind of sucked as the metal was soft and was known to get stripped from time to time. Plus the stock pickups kind of sucked. The trem model is a JT6 if I recall. I think they quit using the Kahler systems in 85 or 86 but I could be wrong on that.

But still these are great guitars for someone who is comfortable with changing pickups. Also helps if you are good at setting them up. Some people are just not comfortable with floyd rose systems and if you have not used them much they can be a pain to setup so the action is not too high. But once you learn they are easy to setup. I have grown to prefer a guitar with a floyd rose bridge.

I traded my Charvel (first new guitar I bought) a couple of years ago. And again if I had the money I would get this one off of you but I am saving up for a new case and shipping cost of a warlock I had custom painted.

You might consider going to the jackson forum and seeing if anyone would be interested in it. If you have not already.

Good luck with it.

Maybe if someone on here has a kid that is wanting to start playing guitar, or maybe they bought the kid a really cheap starter guitar pack and want to upgrade...they should get this guitar for their kid and have someone in your area fix it up for them. They really are good guitars. Next to the dean guitar I have, I would say the necks on those charvels are the most comfortable...plus you don't have those monster fret wires like some jacksons have. Someone should be able to get that guitar for a good price. Have someone restring it, set up the floyd so the action is not too high and it will probably play like butter.

Ah... this takes me back.

That high action is a turn off. Too bad you dont get the intonation set and lower the action. It then becomes fun to play again.

I got a Jackson Shark Fin back in 1986. Its a Randy Rhodes edition. Pretty sweet.

It looked like the one below but it was black and white zebra striped.

Good luck.

Well If you really wanted it I would hang onto it until you had the cash. let me know.

As far as the bridge goes, that is why I am selling it. I had a kramer focus and a kramer 310 when i was younger, I hate floyd rose. Nothing but problems for me. Yes this is the jackson made Jt6 not the kahler people really like.

I restrung it once when I got it cleaned it up and played it through my marshall mini stack and loved it. then I wanted to really clean it up so I restrung it and cleaned every inch of it and I threw the action out of whack...its really high and the intonation needs to be done to fix it. I just never had it done because My kids just harass me the second I take out the guitar.

The neck is incredible, It is so much more comfortable than I remember my kramers. I had a fender 52 reissue telecaster about 10 years ago and it wasnt as nice as this!

I am being kicked out of my office as it is becoming my 1 year old daughters bedroom and I need space so this has to go and should because I never use it.

I have a nice marshall mini half stack that was made in england in the 80s. I forget the model number but it sounds terrific. I may be forced to sell that in a couple of weeks, but I really dont want to.

Hey, thanks for the info

Nice guitar but I'm not so sure about the color, thanks though

I would, however, be very interested in that Marshall mini-stack

let me know if and when you decide to sell

EDIT: I somehow managed to read over and even type the word "mini" without realizing it... thought you meant an actual stack haha

Yeah the action is out of whack, I just never wanted to spend the 50 to 80 bucks to have it set up because I instantly remembered how much I hate floyd rose!

it did sound great when it was setup well when I first got it...Playing old ratt tunes sounded great!

Chances are I will not be getting another guitar any time soon. I went from having one (the charvel) for around twenty years and then got GAS and bought 5 (well one is a bass). So I traded off the charvel and a Warlock for another warlock to be custom painted. I told the wife I would chill out on getting any new guitars for a long time.:laugh2:

I know a guy that paints guitars. I had him paint a jackson for me. And he just finished doing an amazing job on a warlock for me. You might want to just PM him and ask how much a simple one color repaint would cost. Might be worth it. He gave me a heck of a deal on the paint job, but we have been friends from that forum for some time.

Here is a couple of pics of the job he did from this thread .

Woooo! I love the maple fretboard! I never had a Charvel, but my buddy had a black '87 or '88 model with the floyd rose. We used to swap out all the time (I had an 89' black Fender with a maple fretboard and without a pick guard)

With a little TLC, that would be a great guitar. I'm sure my wife would be pissed. I'm trying to pick up a Taylor Big Baby, but I can't get her to agree to that yet. :(

Why are the nuts still on the strings! :laugh2:

Thanks BP. I really appreciate that. I am going to put on the kramer and charvel forums here in a few.

Here is the marshall lead 12. I am the second owner of this and I have all the original paperwork. I think it was made in 86 or 87. they started making these things somewhere else and they sound different than this one. I love this thing. I am not sure I will part with it to be honest, If I do wraith I will let you know first.

Man, I used to rock the house with a full Marshall stack with the 1968(green) Anniversary head.

Mother screaming down the stairs, "you are going to knock over my china cabinet"

so a guy just emailed me and offered to trade me his 2000 eric clapton blackie?

the value of that is like double the value of the charvel?

something doesnt make sense. he said he loved the charvel and used to have one...

If it is a legit offer wouldnt I be crazy not to accept it and then sell the clapton?

that is what I thought, but he is a local guy, lives near me and said he never plays the blackie and wants an old charvel again....If he has pictures and the paperwork on that thing I am going to do it.

Unless he robs me at gunpoint, trading it face to face eliminates the scam aspect of it.

Well if you can meet him and verify it is real and there is nothing wrong with it (like a broken or warped neck) I would say trade it and both of you walk away happy.

At worst you find out it is junk and walk away. At best you get a higher priced guitar that you could at the very least sell for what you was hoping to get out of the charvel.

I will tell you this, there are many people who really loved the old charvels and did not know how good they really were until they sold or traded them. Part of me still regrets trading mind even though I know I got a great deal out of it.

Older 80's rockers love the things.
