Well if you can meet him and verify it is real and there is nothing wrong with it (like a broken or warped neck) I would say trade it and both of you walk away happy.

At worst you find out it is junk and walk away. At best you get a higher priced guitar that you could at the very least sell for what you was hoping to get out of the charvel.

I will tell you this, there are many people who really loved the old charvels and did not know how good they really were until they sold or traded them. Part of me still regrets trading mind even though I know I got a great deal out of it.

Older 80's rockers love the things.

yep. That is what I am thinking. This guy is a musician, its not a hobby he has an endorsment with emg and a guitar company I have never heard of, but he plays all over and is doing pretty well. He sent me some links to who he is and why he doesnt care about the value difference.

This is the strangest thing. That guitar looks like its in great shape, perfect basically. I could probably walk into guitar center and get twice what I get for the charvel, I cant believe he doesnt do that.

I just emailed him and asked him if he would be offended If I sold it immediately because I am using this money to fund some editing upgrades for work. If he sends me another Im fine with it email I am going to do this!!

Good story. I'm interested in hearing how it goes.

Reminds me of my one and only guitar, a '53 Magnatone lap steel...
I wandered into the local used guitar store, run by an outlaw country type guy, and told him I didn't know a thing about them, but I wanted to get a lap steel because the sound was so sweet. Turns out he was a lap/pedal steel player, so he gave me a serious walkthru and a real good deal. Sounded amazing with an Ebow.

Hope this turns out well for everyone!

Sunday I will put the link up to the ad for the strat!! What a crazy thing.

I hope I can get a good number for the strat.

I'm sure my wife would be pissed. I'm trying to pick up a Taylor Big Baby, but I can't get her to agree to that yet. :(
:laugh2:

You guys are doing something wrong. I own 3 guitars: a BC Rich Bich a girlfriend bought me 20+ years ago and a Takamine electric acoustic, my wife bought me about 7 years ago.

I bought myself an original Ibanez Destroyer at some point...

I want to get an electric for my youngest daughter for next Christmas. What is a good starter one for someone just learning on an acoustic?

Honestly, from my own experience. I would hold off on electric. I would upgrade the acoustic or get and electric acoustic.

Reason being: Learning on an acoustic allows for better hand posture and REAL ringing of the notes. CLEAN ringing of the notes.

An electric guitar tends to allow people to get sloppy especially when learning.

My wife does not complain when I have bought guitars. She actually bought me a warlock one year as a gift and bugged me to get a different some time later.

I just told her I need to settle down on it as we were saving up for other things.

Ya I know...just saying that I need to cool off and blaming the wife on it.

I am actually wanting to save up to get a gun this year besides I have enough guitars anyway.

Crazy..I was just pricing an Adrian Smith San Dimas.
Charvel/Jacksons are the ones for me.
I had to sell some of my gear but now the boys are growing and I can see myself getting some back now that formula and diapers are a thing of the past.

Let me know when you come across a King V.
